Gritting the Roads

I was at the bottom of Coldean Lane this morning just after 7am when I witnessed a gritter coming from the Falmer direction which then proceeded to chuck a u-turn at the Coldean Lane traffic lights and head back towards Falmer... That may answer the original question...

Well done to B&H buses for running the coach around Lower bev. not only that but it was FREE!!!!

Much appreciated and staff (driver & assistant) were very helpful and obliging and would pick up/drop off almost on request wherever it was safe to do so.

By running the coach, they have also helped other users by clearing the roads.

It's seems they've managed to serve all but one area of Brighton at some point since the first snowfall... Can you guess which is the forgotten about area that seems to be completely cut off?...

not much apparently , but ringmers stock was taken by brighton gritters.
instructions are now to only grit main roads, i assume that means A27 ,A26 to newhaven, and A23 .buit probably not A26 north of Lewes as this does not get gritted as much as the other main roads

Judging by the whinging that I've had every day from people who I work with who live in Coldean, I can only guess that it's you and your neighbours.

Or is it just that Coldeanites are all just natural born whingers?

We ha d a gritter with snow plough on front going through some of the side roads in crowborough this afternoon and it was doing what it was meant to be doing gritting and moving the snow, not made any difference though roads are still shite

Hey, that is un called for!!!!!!!!

I like to think that Coldean is an exclusive area and if they clear the roads then any old riff raff would be able to get in.

Big Lurve to all those in Coldean especially to the wondefull Hawkhurst Road. Incidentally a road in Coldean bears the same name as the football ground of a former league club.

What the f*** have they done with it, then? Flogged it off somewhere else?

To my knowledge there are still stocks at the sites but it is dwindling rapidly. ESCC were well off for stock initially and had more on order in reserve but the reserves that came in were diverted by the DfT to areas which had run out. I believe that Kent are in a similar situation.

In some respects, ESCC and other Councils are now being penalised by the DfT for being prepared (having not only got a decent supply but also having more on order) as these Councils are now having supplies diverted to those that didn't plan properly.

Gully got it as manor road, former home of Oxford.

The Southport ground, and road in Coldean, is Haig Avenue.
