I thought it was just me. Kane gets a lot of stick considering his ability and record, but he looks a stone overweight to my eyes.

Did he not get the link?

 it’s true though, he looks a bit chunkier than usual

Good win, nice goal from Jones and some decent stops from Pickford.

Fair play to Pickford. Carsley has got him playing out from the back instead of hoofball. Tuchel out/ :)

Prevented 2 or 3 goals, some poor defending in front of him which now be completely forgotten about in media analysis.
Never understood the constant barrage of abuse he gets from so called England 'fans'. Tonight he was immense and pulled off some great stops.

No doubt the Ireland thread will start with why does Pickford always play blah blah blah

Yea he had a good game tonight but don’t get carried away. Due to Southgate no other England goalkeepers has his experience of international football. It’s a compromise between loyalty and picking the best player, see also the number of caps for Maguire and Mings have got as opposed to the caps Lewis has got.

Southgate was quoted some 18 to 24 months ago saying that England would be picking players from the Championship soon because of the number of foreign players in the Premier League. It was straight out of the Daily Mail which told us his political views I think tonight proved what a prat he was.

Who is next in line to Pickford? We don't seem to have many knocking at the door just now.
That is so true. Pickford has grown into the job and tonight played like a proper keeper imo. At times they looked like Brighton, no higher praise imo. They are a lot of very good English keepers but he has the shirt and will take some shifting. unfortunately. Henderson, Ramsay, Butland and Trafford are all pushing him.

This Nations League still seems like a minor competition compared to the 2 main tournaments in international football, but it does seem better than watching meaningless friendlies. Maybe in time, it will grow in importance for the general public.

Who would you have picked ahead of Pickford for the last several years? He’s been outstanding for England overall. Particularly in tournaments.

There’s been no real contenders for his position for ages.

In other NL results, France could only draw 0-0 at home to Israel, currently 81st FIFA ranked.

70% possession, 24 shots, 8 of them on target, 0 goals. France had won 3 of the 4 NL games before tonight, Israel had lost all 4.

So as poor as last month's loss to Greece was, even good sides can have a bad result at home occasionally.

As for England, 5 games played and 4 wins - all of them by 2 clear goals or more.

More of the same on Sunday please.
