There was a gentleman on his hands and knees outside the colosseum, spray painting a moonlit silhouette of the, you've guessed it, colosseum. He was my favourite.
The rest of them were more loathsome than the French.

Edit:
Come to think of it, he wasn't Italian.

I'll go for Gigi Riva as I think he's somewhat overlooked.

Italy's all-time top scorer and, aside from his debut season in the 3rd tier, a one club man. He averaged a goal every other game for Cagliari over 13 seasons, which was no mean feat in Serie A. Also won the Euros with Italy and went on to manage the team.

Nowadays you can find him most days in the restaurant he owns in Cagliari.
