Madness - can't believe that these 3 made semi though given some of the ones that were knocked out

Very much the weaker of the two semi finals. Come to think of it I would take all three of semi final 1 over these bands. New Order for me.

Not a clue you lot - Depeche Mode are the epitome of the 80's band.

Depeche Mode are THE 80s band.

Being the 'most 80s' doesn't make them the BEST band from that decade, though. Great, though they were.

Terrific songbook though, but for me personally, New Order have endured better.

Worrying times in this group - looks like the music fans' vote is being split between the two decent groups, whilst the novelty act picks up all the votes from the nostalgic school-discoers.

Depeche Mode made some truly great singles, they really did, but some of the rest of guff they had on their albums was barely listenable.

You have to also remember that 'Violator' (my favourite) with 'Enjoy the Silence', 'Personal Jesus', 'World in My Eyes' is 1990 so perhaps shouldn't be considered as relevant to this contest...

I give you Elegia, which featured as a mere 4:56 version on their career defining Low-Life album which in fact is an edited cut of a full 17 1/2 minute recording - their 'Shine on you Crazy Diamond' tribute to Ian Curtis. Incredible piece of music.

Madness…FFS…
