It says Europe, not the UK but I think the weather means they may be here at the moment but not resident.

The link I posted says:

"Where to see them

Found across the UK except for the far north and west of Scotland."

If you look at the map on that same page, it has virtually the whole of the UK in green = resident.

Brighton - In your face
Long-tailed Tits are resident and mostly sedentary throughout the UK. Some move short distances from their nesting sites, especially in the winter when families join roaming flocks of up to typically 20 birds, often including other species of Tits, in search of food within a winter feeding territory.

British Garden Birds - Long-tailed Tit

I'm not getting at your poll, just stating facts :)

Fair enough, they can be the Munich of this poll.

My dad lives in the New Forest and has 3 bird tables on the desking and 2 bird spotting books in proximity. It is not uncommon to see blue, great, coal, marsh and even willow tits (which are rare elsewhere) milling around his bird tables in the matter of an hour or two.

Yes Long Tailed Tits are resident in the UK - loads in Sussex. You'll be lucky to see a Crested Tit here in Sussex I am afraid! Had Marsh Tits on our bird table, but not this year. Loads of Tits in Croydon last night I gather.

As our bird-spotting expert seems to not really have a clue on another of his specialist subjects, both long-tailed tits and coal tits have been added.

Let's not completely Spielberg this up please chaps.

Long tailed tit ?

There are ridiculous amounts of Pheasants along the Lewes to Newhaven road, the one that goes by the side of the Downs , not the main road. Beautiful and magnifcent birds, there must have been several groups of 15-20.

Swanborough Fishing lakes full of them, ya can tell when there been a shoot as the road is full of dead ones

The highlight of my bird spotting was when I saw a wild Peregrine Falcon on Southwick Downs a couple of years ago. What's your highlight ?

Seeing a Peregrine and a Vulture from the cross on the hill above Lluc monastery. Also seeing a red kite feeding on Llangattock mountain.

I went off vultures after one shat on me from a great height outside the Taj Mahal in India a few years ago. They are very large birds with correspondingly voluminous colons. It wasn't pretty...

I have seen lots of Long Tailed Tits - you need to add them US.

Top Shout Mr P! I've seen loads this winter too: & they all looked very trim & stylish. In fact, 'pert' would be an apt description.

Lovely stuff.
