was it? i was in there a lot but not until after 82. Its not Earth and Stars and they are renovating it on this programme. You would not recognise it!

The other pub is the Fountain Head in North Road. Can anyone remember what was there before it was a pub (back in the 1980s) ?

The Mallard couple ran it after the old girl passed away at 142, or thereabouts. Their son was Paul and worked at Gatwick Airport for Braniff (till they went bust). Then it was managed by a big lad with curly hair, Robert Plant style. Can't remember his name but we used to play all-night 3 card brag games in his flat upstairs after closing time.
