I would have gone for Telstar by the Tornado's had it been there, went for Apache in the end.

How come Wichita Lineman is not on the list? One of the very best guitar riffs.

I'm a little bit surprised that no Muse track made it into their list

Hmmmmmmm, I'd have gone for 'Thunderstruck' instead of 'Back in Black' for AC/DC. From those on the list though - maybe 'No One Knows' by QOTSA.

edit: also maybe would add 'Senses Working Overtime' by XTC.

I love these lists - they are begging us to say "Why isn't [obscure personal favourite] on this list??" Having said that, where are Cruiser's Creek by The Fall and Jacket Hangs by The Blue Aeroplanes?

There are some good songs on that list. White Stripes, seven nation army is always good. Think they need to put them in some sort of category - almost world cup style vote, rather than all at once.

I must confess that was part of my cunning plan! Just working through the ones I have never heard of on Spotify. Starting with the "A"'s - Alive by Pearl Jam. I would go with the poster's suggestion on that.

Radiohead 'No Surprises' - does that have a 'riff' as such? If you'd asked me to pick a Radiohead tune for the list I'd have gone for 'Creep'.

Creep doesn't have a riff? It has chords. No Surprises shouldn't be included as the "riff" is on glockenspiel.

I did think it was either that or xylophone.

A riff is just a repeated series of notes or chord patterns so I would say Creep does have one.
