I'm off to Aintree on Friday 13th and am not really into the horses (just going for a really good day and nght on the lash!), so can anyone give me any dead certs which might boost my beer fund during the day??

Ah, Ladies Day at Liverpool - a contradiction in terms if ever there was one. Half of them are too pissed to stand up when they arrive, never mind when they finally stagger off out of the gates for another eight or nine hours of boozing in the city centre.

Not sure of the fields yet, but will cheerfully offer a little advice when the times come if you really want it. Pick anything you like the name of in the Fox Hunters though, it's an absolute lottery.

Fcuk sake Spielberg. I've been backing Simon from 50-1 downwards since the back end of last year to its now price of 16-1. I stand to win a few thousand if that wins the national.

And you've ruined it for me by tipping it. Thanks a bunch.

Ladies step out in style
Apr 7 2006
By Luke Traynor, Liverpool Echo

BLUE was the colour of the season as Ladies Day dawned.

Crowds of scantily clad women flocked to the racecourse as the second day of the Grand National got under way.

It seemed any exposed areas of skin not covered by fake tan were turning various shades of blue in the biting wintry wind.

Other trends on show included short skirts and extravagant hats.
The sun started to shine as hundreds gathered in the old parade ring for the ECHO's Looking Good Style Contest.

Entrants paraded on a mini catwalk as they tried to impress the judges with their outfits.

Today, Sheree Murphy, wife of Liverpool footballer Harry Kewell, ran her eye over the day's hopefuls as women queued up expectantly to win the top fashion prize.

Dramatic pink, red and green colours proved most popular, many womens choosing to go for the all-out glamour look.

Janine Bentley, 26, of Prescot, wore an elaborate feather hat with a brown dress and white shoes.

She said: "I spent at least three hours getting ready this morning but it is definitely worth the effort. Ladies Day is one of my highlights of the year and it is great us girls having the chance to get dressed up and glamorous."
