I'm sure that exactly the same argument could be made about those people who were born into slavery - hardly makes it right, does it

As for having a pampered life - dream on - I have first hand experience of exactly how many "sporting" horses are treated when they come to the end of their 'useful' life.

These magnificent animals are bred purely for a sport and most are "retired" before they reach maturity - considering the costs involved in keeping a horse it is hardly surprising that many, (most?), don't enjoy 20+ years of pampered retirement.
