Hither and Thither
Last night I listened to the second half of the Ghana game.

The African teams defensively are so naive.

When the African teams get to the 18-yard box they get over-excited.

He is like the embarrassing uncle.

Those were the days - good old BRITISH England managers. Thank God those glory days of being busy watching other teams in the world cup are about to return. :shootself

Why on earth did Graham Taylor ever allow that programme to be made?

I reckon it ought to be repeated, just so the nation can be thankful that even though we have got Sven, at least he's not Grahm Taylor :D
I reckon Sven will seem like Bill Shankly and Matt Busby rolled into one when the McLaren/Shearer Dream Team gets cracking.

Another one that ought to be repeated was the programme about Leyton Orient / Orient - I cant remember what they were called the week it was shown - when John Sitton was manager and he sacked a player, Terry Evans, at half time. It ends with the club going bust and Barry Hearn taking over.

I wonder whatever happened to them?

Yours For A Fiver, I think it was called. Without any doubt in my mind, the most jaw-dropping football documentary ever made - I can't believe the manager didn't explode on camera (and I wouldn't say that lightly) - absolutely mental. Now that repeat they should Carlton!

(I don't know what happened to the parks side where they filmed it afterwards either I'm afraid).

That rings a vague bell. Hearn was robbed.

There was another documentary on around the same time about a bunch of Millwall supporters Sunday team called Milldean that made for some hilarity - their fat mate in charge of the kit because he couldnt play but wanted to come along on a sunday etc.

I remember that. They chose the name Milldean after Millwall and Dean Martin.
Another great line from that documentary was something along the lines of '.. if Millwall have won on Saturday, Milldean have won on Sunday morning, then you feel like you've have a good weekend and you'll probably go home and give the missus one..'

Lucky lady huh ?

Tony Dorigo, Andy Sinton, Carlton Palmer, is it any wonder we didnt qualify for the World Cup?

Plus Gascoigne and Shearer out for virtually the whole qualifying campaign - he didn't have a lot of luck but he did bring a lot of the misfortune on himself.
