Respectfully though this is what a discussion forum is for? Potter has suffered some deep personal trauma in losing both his parents in a very short space of time - then went to Chelsea, a period of his life where he dealt with Todd Boehly and the vitriol of both Brighton and Chelsea supporters and ultimately got fired. There is a point with GP where you could ask, having apparently turned down a number of attractive opportunities, is he is done with football management. He wouldn't be the first to quit young and not everyone has the resilience of Neil Warnock?

Oh I know it's a discussion forum where everyone has an opinion etc etc. It's just the way that people state their opinions as fact, rather than using "I think", or "maybe", or "possibly ". Guess I'm not ready for these post fact times we live in!

Another way of framing that is that if he has ambition and desire for personal satisfaction due to achieving goals in his career is that he will be left unsatisfied and empty. Unless of course all he cares about is money. He will be remembered by almost everyone as a failure if he doesn't take up the reins again and actually gain some success in management.

So a good possibility he's considered/been considered by clubs but has decided that like Manure/Chelsea they're basket cases and no go areas. . . Finding a decent club among say the top 30 clubs in England not so easy.

Not many posts back was one that started "He's shown an outright lack of ambition ". Plenty of others. Anyway, dog needs walking now.

He's clearly got something about him. But his options are somewhat limited.

Now that United (Ashworth in particular) have laid their Amorim cards on the table, he's not getting that job (unless Amorim turns them down, which would be HILARIOUS), and the only other Big Six club that might consider him is Spurs. Unlikely to be available any time soon.

Then you look at clubs like West Ham. The issue I see with them is that they think they're a bigger club than they are, and they have a squad full of egos, who will look at Potter and go "who the hell are you to tell me what to do?". I don't know if the remaining Dildo Brother and the Baroness will actually be smart enough to see that, so they may appoint him anyway, but I'm not convinced it's likely to be a roaring success.

Saints- hmmmm. Almost certain to go down simply because their squad isn't good enough. Would he risk his reputation on that?

Leicester- turned him down for Cooper in the summer.

Forest- doing too well under Nuno, albeit I for one don't see it lasting.

Ipswich- can't see them sacking McKenna, no matter how crap they are. Similar to Luton last season.

I reckon Wolves might be a good shout if O'Neil goes. Reasonable squad with a good chance of staying up, a decent sized club suitable for his own ego, and close to his family ties in the Midlands.

Edit: actually Everton might work too if he can come to some sort of agreement with their board re transfers etc. A relentlessly tedious team, but one with a decent future coming up once they move to the new stadium. They might actually start to be a more attractive proposition for prospective transfer targets, which they aren't currently hence they're so rubbish. They won't go down so he'll be able to make a go of transforming their squad into a half decent side.

I do hope it's not Palace, whatever happens. I fear he'd suit them down to the ground.

Yeah, I agree with you. I think they're already playing at their maximum, having had a relatively easy start, and I'm just not convinced they can sustain it. No chance of them being relegated, mind, but there's no way they're a top six side, let alone a top four one. Surely.
