Amazing really considering the squad we had, Forest have overspent and would love to finish two points above the relegation zone.
Yes the squad was really poor for our first three seasons. But we had two strong CBs a playmaker and a scorer sometimes its enough to get the basics right

If anyone seriously thinks we weren’t in a relegation battle in 2019, they’re deluding themselves. We were only 2 points above the relegation zone with 4 games to go, and had just been thumped 5-0 at home by mid table Bournemouth FFS!

Possibly. We were utterly dreadful in that run-in.
We beat Palace away courtesy of two wonder goals from Murray and Knockeart, then never looked like winning again for the remaining 7 games. We drew our way to safety with some of the most negative, turgid football I’ve ever seen (Wolves away for anyone who remembers).
Perhaps more importantly (and very luckily), Cardiff lost 6 out of 7 in the run-in - their only win in that period was against us. It left them relegated going into the last day.
Honestly, if people can’t see the difference between end of Hughton-era and Potter-era then I give up.
(Note: Hughton was amazing for us and seemingly a much nicer bloke than Potter, but you have to objective)

Cardiff lost 3 on the spin after beating us and then beat Man Utd on the final day. It was a Palace win at Cardiff in the second to last game of the season that confirmed their relegation. Thanks Palace.

Yeah that was a great weekend. Survival confirmed on the Saturday and Brighton Festival kicked off. Booze up in the sunshine on the Sunday at Arsenal away, nicked a point off them and ruined their Champions League qualification hopes. Then Bank Holiday Monday to see it off.

We would´ve gone down 100% with another season of Chris. Not because he was or is a bad manager but because he had himself cornered. If he had tried ty teach the players to to play the more modern style there would have been very little belief in the squad after two years of mostly just fighting. The whole vibe with Potter was that it was a step into the unkown and that made players more curious and less fearful of trying something else. Tony credited Potter with introducing a culture of wanting to learn stuff and I still we got plenty of that.
All our three Premier League managers so far will go down as greats in our history long term imho we moan about Chris, about Potter, about Roberto, about our next one but reality remain weve stayed up with bottom 5 sometimes bottom 3 budgets. Not possible to do with bad manager meaning all of them did or done well

Is that really your definition of a relegation battle? I am not sure how I would define one but certainly not as narrow as this. Maybe for me, a relegation battle is when I look at the games to come, the expected points, and do the same with the other teams in the same "points circle" and start to get concerned that we could well be relegated, even more so when the need to factor in GD becomes a concern.

After the absolutely appalling football and tactics against Saints, Bournemouth and Cardiff? You must have had Elton John sized Albion tinted glasses on. If Palace hadn’t beaten Cardiff away, we’d have almost certainly gone down. The form at the end of that season was nailed on relegation form, thank God for the very lucky three 1-0 victories on the bounce early in the season and Palace bailing us out.
We stank the division out that season. For me it was embarrassing to watch and given how CH did in his next job at Forest TB was 100% vindicated in his decision to sack CH. Potter got brickbats throughout his tenure here from many of the fans who were gutted at CH being sacked and was never going to gain their support, as seen by the continuing slagging off of his time here by a few
