[Football] Graham Potter - ruthless

What is GP going to do really?

He's been working with these five for three years. They've accomplished remarkable results. Met every day, probably became great friends and colleagues.

So he gets an offer from Chelsea and one of his requirements was probably to take his staff with him - at least Billy and Björn.

He meets up with his coaches and what is he supposed to do?

"You and you can come with me, increase your wages with 300%, fight for the finest titles in Europe. You and you however have to stay here forever and work with limited resources under a limited ceiling and never get the chance to taste the glory, because otherwise TottonSeagull will be sad."

Now THAT would be ruthless.

Its a sad situation. It is sad that GP accepted the offer from Chelsea, I really hoped and thought he wouldn't, and I'm a little bit angry with him for doing that. But asking his friends/colleagues if they want to be part of the ride? And those colleagues saying yes to it? I really don't see how that make any of them horrible people.

See ,when she speak from the heart without your (often) snidey bollocks towards Albion fans you come across rather well and witty too.

People should lay off Swanny. He knows his stuff and for whatever reason has clearly invested a lot of time and energy into our club. We are all hurting, taking it out on a stranger on the internet is crass and unfair.

I concur.
It's just bullying.
We've all got to get past this and move on.
It was inevitable GP was going to bigger things, and taking it out on one individual is crass.

There is absolutely no way I’ll be clapping or standing up to cheer him or any of his team. I won’t boo but he has shafted this club rightly or wrongly and much I was a massive fan the timing stinks for me. This was not his one and only lifetime opportunity. He would have been a candidate for every top job as it became available imo. He chose the worst option of the top clubs in this country imo and he has left us in a shit position by taking every single member of the first team coaching squad.

My opinion of him has plummeted.

I think this is where I am at too. He obviously backs himself, so why not get us another too half finish and be able to take your pick of bigger jobs? Was it so torturous here not to just wait? We've lost EVERY member of back room staff. Mid season. It stinks Graham. Thanks for your work here but that's all the respect you get from me moving forward.

You have to begrudgingly admire GP’s life trajectory, something Swansman obviously has long term. He obviously inspires loyalty amongst his coaching staff and is respected; would be interesting to know what the players thought of him. Before Brighton he had no sense of style whatsoever and a geeky home haircut, and sorted that out too. I have to say that if he ever published a book on his rules/philosophy for success (walking out on BHA aside), it would probably be worth a read. Ruthless, maybe, laser focused, definitely. A quite unique skillset in a surprisingly deceptively unassuming, fairly innocuous-looking package.

Then he needs to understand the feelings of those of us who have supported the club through thick and thin for many decades and stop posting nonsense through his Potter-tinted glasses. Whatever "investment" he has put into the club is because of his somewhat odd obsession with Potter not out of a love of BHAFC..

Yesterday, when he posted that he was staying here and would continue to support BHAFC, I was pleased because he is knowledgable and posts some great stats. All I've seen today is him having a poke at those who are genuinely upset and angry about the way his idol has behaved.

I'm not denying all that. And I'm not doubting that sometimes he is in the kind of mood where he's on the windup. Lots of us can be guilty of that. Mostly, what he does is offer a slightly more emotionally detached view of things and in hindsight is largely insightful and mostly correct. But this isn't about him per se, it's about people bring targeted as a punch bag by multiple posters. It's happened since day one here (despite the age of this account I've been on here since pretty much the begining) and that is bullying.

The echo-chamber worship of Potter's apparent godlike-genius on here was always vomit-making to anybody with half an opinion of their own. Arctic Benny's crash'n'burn of his own making in the next 18 months or less, taking all his little minions with him, will be the most marvellous entertainment. Bring it ON!

If people stopped posting nonsense there would only be about 20 people left.

So what he is still defending GP? Others are too. No one has a divine right to be Mr Angry and not have someone give an opinion back. Some of these same people rising to Swansman are the same people criticising Bloom's transfer spending, Solly March, calling for the manager to be sacked in March. So real double standards all over these boards last few days. Imagine wanting him gone 6 months ago now livid he's gone - they need to have a look at themselves in the mirror, not take it out on a new fan of the club.

Likewise

GP may be todays news but give it a few years and there'll be a new kid on the block with a different approach, football fashion. It Will change again soon enough.

But he isn't a "fan of the club". He only arrived here because of his idolisation of Potter which is a bit odd in itself. Its akin to when Wardy left for Forest me slinging it in with the Albion and getting a Nottingham Forest season ticket!

And "double standards" on an internet message board? Well I never. Blow me down. I'm shocked :lolol:
