We’re playing far better football and it appears that he’s on course to keep us in the PL. Fingers crossed.

Agree with these comments - it's impressive how we have a good core of players under 25: Lamptey (19), Bissouma (23), Mac Allister (21), Connolly (20), Alzate (21), and Maupay (23).

It appears that Potter is developing them well, and if they continue to improve at this rate then we'll have a very handy team.

And to think we've got a lot of good young players out on loan too.

I was worried that it may be another Hyypia appointment before it happened. I have been properly onboard since the Man City away game, even though we lost heavily. The long contract renewal that so many on here questioned at the time is looking like a good investment.

Absolutely loving this season and not just the last two games colouring my view. GP has entertained whilst completely changing the style, tactics and mindset, and bringing through youth. Signings have been inspirational too imo

Staying up is important but even if we go down I think the future is bright

I thought Swansea had made a brilliant appointment when they brought in Potter. Unfortunately they proceeded to sell most of their best players in the Summer window. Despite that Swansea played some very attractive football and enjoyed a decent cup run.
I think Potter is exceptional. I'd be delighted if our owners made an offer the Swansea board couldn't turn down, but that isn't going to happen. If Shahid Khan was receiving good advice he'd forget about Parker and poach Potter. I predict Graham Potter will be an outstanding manager over the next few years.

This season was always going to be his toughest IMO, mainly due to some of the poor signings given to Hughton.

Hopefully, we can stay up and improve.

Even so this season shouldn't have been as tough as it has been.
Naturally I'm going to point at the strikers (or lack of) and seemingly I can also cast an over the fans.

Even so an awful lot of points have been needlessly left on the pitch for which the manager has to carry the can.

You can only be in a false position for so long before it's no longer false.
We aren't watching a bottom 5 side and yet that's exactly what we had become since December and chances are would have been worse, not better, were it not for the break.

I agree to an extent, but points left on the pitch have not been Potter's fault IMO, but down to a lack of quality finishing. We cannot make the same mistake again for next season where we only have 3 strikers, two of which are a raw but promising kid and a 37 Yr old veteran.

Maupay and Connolly look like they need to play together so we need someone who ideally can run the line themselves.

I believe GP got sold regarding transfers. With Knocky Andone, Locadia off the payroll so to speak he must of been promised one or two strikers or a pacy winger which never arrived. To be left with a Championship striker, ageing GM and a kid from the under 21,s was a tough ask for any manager. He’s done well with what he had to work with.

To be left with a Championship striker, ageing GM and a kid from the under 21,s was a tough ask for any manager. He’s done well with what he had to work with.

Bloom was always looking at the bigger picture when he realised Hughton could not adapt well.

I totally agree with both.
I've always been #TeamPotter, I even checked my posts on this thread just to make sure!

It was beginning to look like no matter how good he is, he just wasn't lucky.

Hopefully we can now finish the season Part Deux the way they started it and we can banish the 'get rid' and 'Hughton would have done better' brigade once and for all.

Yes, good point on that. And part of dealing with an ageing team was breaking up the drinking squad and, it's telling that they've gone from three regular starters (two automatic picks) to, at best, occasional starters (one is being eased out the door, and I wouldn't be too surprised to see the other two follow).

Potter has been exceptional since the resumption. Tactically and motivationally. He seems to be one step ahead of the opposition. Three examples for you:

1.The winning goal move between Connolly and Maupay was straight off the training ground and that the players had the nouse to even attempt it in the 95th minute says volumes as to how they have been coached.

2. When Duffy came on yesterday, we basically stopped playing out from the back by default and kicked to Dan Burn more often than not. Plan B implemented. It took Vardy's sniffing and closing down out of the equation and he continued to be a peripheral player.

3. Players were clearly under instruction to stop Madison from getting on the ball and dictating play. At times, Biss was doing a man marking job on him. We got a couple of cheap fouls in that put him back in his box. Result - the England creative midfielder created nothing all game.

To have the balls to ship out Andone, Locadia and Knocky, and then put your faith in the likes of U-21's Connolly, Alzate and Championship players Webster, Maupay and Burn takes an enormous leap of faith.
Whilst doing that he's trusted Dunk, Duffy, Murray, Propper, Ryan, Stephens, Gross to lead by example and mentor them.
They've turned into a true band of brothers with a clear team spirit.

If we stay up (we should now) we are so well placed to push on to become an established mid-table side and be an attractive option for possible signings.
With Ben White due to return next season our only obvious need is for a younger Glenn Murray.

They'll be questions about a few players (like there are in every club) but with a depressed transfer market we're looking in a far healthier position than many clubs to continue to 'Bloom'.

I doubt very much he was 'promised' anything. He came in early so he had the chance to assess what he squad he had. He would have been involved in deciding what type of players we needed but he's a manager, he'll know everything comes at a price and you can't always get deals over the line. I cannot see Bloom and Barber promising things that aren't guaranteed. Were not Newcastle!
