Poll is one of those ref's who thinks the game is all about him. Got found out yesterday. Kewell goal offside, Australia not given blatant penalty, 3 yellow cards.

If Croatia had scored in the last 5 Poll who have to have gone in hiding from the Aussie hit squad like that geezer who disallowed England's goal against Portugal has had to.

Generally had a good first half, I felt he lost it when that Croatian pushed him.

That was a booking but would have neant a sending off. He bottled it. He lost control from that point on.

He needed to enforce discipline not just dish out cards as the Crotians became increasingly frustrated and fouling.

Pulling the two captains together could have helped.

What was the third card for, the player was in the penalty area, so I assume a penalty should also been given. That could have been very important for Australia.

In amongst all the brickbats headed at Poll's head, until, er, he f***ed up the booking and handball (not small mistakes, I admit) I thought he was doing as well as could be expected, given that it was a pretty dirty game between two pretty cynical sides. Some of the pushing and shoving at corners was like a New Orleans supermarket when Katrina's at the levee. If you're on a yellow and lunge in two-footed, what's the ref going to do? Stupid, dirty players, really. Great game though.
