Excellent news - personally in some of the development going on around here I thought SEEDA were a bit jobs worth.

Not sure that SEEDA actually had any money for anything so no big loss.

They're a goverment quango, so anything they have is our money anyway.

I thought they were going to part-fund the redevelopment of Shoreham harboour - even if those plans are 'on hold' at the moment. That redevelopment has been needed for 20 years, so I guess it won't happen in my lifetime now. Don't know what else they have contributed to, or planned to.

I did some work for SEEDA on the Isle of Wight and thought they were the definitive unwanted quango - it is not as if the SE of England was short of people doing this sort of stuff (Local Councils come to mind) or that we needed another layer of bureacrats...

If Regional Assemblies go as well even better - we already have Parish, District and County Councils - go and get a proper job!

I thought that SEEDA funded the "Jack Straw" roadworks on the A270 etc but gave the money to local councils to manage the scheme. As contracts have been let presume councils have the money to see the scheme through.

Not if they've spent it already and were waiting for a further tranche of dosh from SEEDA , so does this mean the club might have to cough up to finish Jack Straw Way ?

The people in the office opposite mine won't be happy...
Well I'm definitely not. The biggest projects I've worked on in the last seven years or so have all been funded by SEEDA, the LSC and the NFEA.

Bugger. ASDA here I come ...

On NSC for over two decades...
You're not at the Government Office for the South East, are you CO? Because I think that and the other GO-Regions offices are also for the chop soon, and the Regional Assemblies.

Nope, I am quite firmly in the private sector. :) SEEDA have a building opposite us, and Surrey County Council are next door - all private sector firms in my building though.
