Irrespective of political leanings Gove has been a disaster for education. He based his decisions on whimsy, doctrine and spite, and refused to listen to anyone apart from himself, and his Daily Mail columnist wife Sarah Vine.

Anyone who showed any element of opposition to his views in relation to the curriculum, academies, free schools etc was punished with increased bureaucracy and smaller budgets. Education is a universal right IMO, from nursery to HE level, and the investment we make in our kids should be free of political interference, nannying and religious indoctrination. That goes for the clowns on the left as well as the right.

I must have a bit of "teacher" in me, because I can't work out how this one works. You have to pass a fair few exams and qualify through training to become a teacher, is it something that happens to people once they become a teacher ?

Gove always seemed to me one of those policians who while extrememly popular with party diehards is toxic to the rest of the population. I'm a "floating voter" an I've not decided who i'll vote for at the next election, but I do know that Gove is huge negative factor for me when it comes to voting conservative.

Can you show - without resorting to third-person hearsay, corrupted evidence or inherent prejudice, while preferably using first-hand knowledge, corroborated testimony and maybe reliable statistics - any evidence to reasonably back up the claim that most (i.e. more than 50%) teachers are 'stupid'?
