It is a strategy to put more pressure on her for getting what he wanted. I mean why on earth would you do that if you were confident ? I say fair play to her for not buying into it. To be fair it is a cringeworthy way to propose. It should be intimate between the two after a nice meal and some wine not in front of thousands of strangers. ANY Man that proposes this way gets exactly what he deserves.
