Seriuosly though, so f***ing what that they check your bag. So what at what degree they do it. Just let them get on with it and and enjoy yourself. I always have my bag checked but i could not give a toss. There is nothing on there for anyone to harm people so, it's a few seconds, get the all clear, and stroll in to the stadium. Why just search the bag? How many have big jackets on which you could hide anything inside. It's like, oh look, he/she has a bag so might be a bloody great bomb or fireworks/flares in it, we're onto something here even thou they are missing the target completely.

Every mid week evening kick off I have to take a rucksack with my laptop in to the ground because I work on three different sites. It has always been searched. What I do is let them search it, exchange a mutual "cheers" then go up and get a beer before kick off.

Sounds like they completely over blown it BUT you mention a lot of beers, and do come across as a bit of well............... why not let them look and shut up or make just one comment. Sounds like you made your point (fair enough) but then said similar again and again and took it too far. Mixed with a few drinks (doesn't have to be loads) it could have come across even a little bit different than you meant it.

Maybe a sort of apology where you say you stand by your points but feel you probably made them in a poor way at a poor time could help, and in a relaxed manner point out the double standard in terms of away fans BUT in a short and to the point way, when sober.
