Apologies if this has been done already, and for not providing a link (am in rural Guatemala on a crap phone, and it's all a bit of a palaver frankly).
North West Film Archive has 124 servicemen from Brighton who recorded messages for their families at home from India and the Far East as part of a project known as "Calling Blighty". The messages were shown to the families in local cinemas. Many of the participants are still not identified, though each has a photo on the website. If you had a relative out there, would be well worth a look (appears to be all Army men, at first sight) - you never know. Google "calling blighty brighton" or look on the North West Film Archive website.
