Amazingly, no comment from Alistair Campbell on his Twitter account. It's as if he's saying even I can't get you out of this one.

Of course, if they can somehow work in a very clever, subtle reference, it might work for them.

Like just before the answer the 1st question, tap the mike and ask 'Is this thing on?'

So, if you raise a question about immigration in your area your own Prime Minister thinks you're a bigot?

Oh, and any illusion anyone has that people like Brown, Cameron etc don't hold ordinary people in anything other than utter contempt is blown away.

What a complete and utter shit this buffoon really is

Funny as fook

Who gains out of this ? Tories or Lib Dems or will it have no effect?

both. it rather depends where the target swing seats are and if her comments are repeated widely. but i think generally it will mean Tories will hold marginals and pick up a lot of Labour maginals, while LibDems will pick up lots of votes across the northern urbanites who've had enough (but will never vote tory). this later one might not be enough to get them seats, but put win Tory seats.

ask yourself, if your favored party leader said somthing like this of someone you identify with, would you vote for that party? or even bother to vote at all?

Shane Warne has just started his work for the Labour Party.

Apparently the PM "was letting off steam after a difficult conversation"

What a disaster, short of calling her a grey-haired Werther's Original-munching thundercunt he couldn't have done much worse.

The scene of him leaning back into his seat then covering his face is priceless.

Do the Tories have time to get some sort of late national poster campaign out of this?

The image of him with his head in his hands will never be forgotten.

And it really makes tomorrow's final debate interesting. The economy was always the one Brown stood a chance in, his timing couldn't have been much worse.

I reckon this will put a couple of percent on the Lib Dems and maybe 1 or 2 on the Tories. However, crucially, it will probably do for Brown personally and intensify the horse-trading going on behind the scenes about Labour's next leader.

It sounds like this was the conversation

During their exchange in the street, Mrs Duffy told the Prime Minister: 'You can't say anything about immigrants.'
She added: 'All these eastern Europeans - where are they coming from?'

Mr Brown said a million people had come from Europe but another million Britons had moved the other way.

Mrs Duffy also complained about people on benefits.
'There are too many who aren't vulnerable and they can claim, and people who are vulnerable can't get claims - can't get it,' she said.

Mr Brown said: 'But they shouldn't be doing that. There is no life on the dole for people any more.'

What a bigot

"Gordon has apologised to Mrs Duffy personally by phone. He does not think that she is bigoted. He was letting off steam in the car after a difficult conversation. But this is exactly the sort of conversation that is important in an election campaign and which he will continue to have with voters."
- Prime Minister spokesman.

Spin, spin, spin away !

He can't talk his way out of it. The best thing for him is to move on and pretend it never happened.
