I thought Greer did OK last year overall, but I cant help but think he benefitted from Upson's class. I think this season, alongside a less experienced Centre Half, he has struggled. In the last few seasons I cannot believe how woeful he is in the air. His record for me say's keep him as a squad player, but I think we need someone else to help develop Dunk towards his full potential.. someone else in the Upson mould.

Has been a huge part of our tight defence for many years even this year we finished with the 8th tightest defence in the championship still can play a role but I think it's time to rebuild for the future maybe CH will bring in his own captain

He's not a bad captain. People may have a go at his ability, but there's no doubting his passion, especially when we concede a goal.

In his time here as captain, Gordon Greer has captained a team that:
a) won the league one title
b) reached the play offs for 2 of the next 3 seasons

To recap, the Greer years have seen one crap season out of five. One. So for that alone, I'd keep him as a squad player (certainly ahead of Halford!), but as club captain rather than captain of the team. Plus, reinforcement at centre-back comes only half-way down the list, IMO. Maybe lower than that.

Some people on here seem to want to put him out to pasture without batting an eyelid. This seems very odd to me when you think of all the love for Inigo Calderon. Gordon Greer is probably almost as deserving of the adulation as Calde in terms of his achievements for this club. Maybe he should tweet a bit more often. ???

He also played more games than anyone else for us at the AMEX.
Though I guess the managers who picked him know f*ck all, in much the same way as all those managers who never picked Paddy McCourt did.

Paddy McCourt was and anemic looking Irish wizard who could not play 90 mins and was sadly not up to the vigors of the Championship! Fact!
