how are they in a better position off the pitch?

don't they get chucked out the league if go into admin one more time? that would be a big shame now wouldnt it

Hello gents, Swindon fan here...

The main cause of our upset here is simply this - we plan on keeping Greer, and it never occured to us that we might not!

We may have lost billy, but to be honest, the fans expected that, and weren't overly gutted. We consider him a good player at our level, but not Championship material (only scored 12 goals last season, and 10 the season before) and certainly replacable.

Conversely though, Greer has been great for us. The season before Greer came, our defense was a shambles. He adds captaincy and leads the team. I would consider him part of the "spine" of our team. We sorely missed him at Wembley. It was his own fault he wasn't there, and hopefully he will learn from that.

Simply put - it makes no sense to sell him, and especially not to a team in the same league as us!

Finally, as for our financial situation and stadium, redevelopment is planned from possibly as early as next year, and our new board is actually loaded just in case you didnt know!! They just run the club like a proper business, as it should be! We have no debts, no CVA payments any more etc, and are definitely a club on the up, on and off the pitch. :clap2:

Agree with all that and we can pretty much match everything you had stated. That just brings it down to a choice between places to live and quality of life. Swindon or Brighton. Hmmmm, difficult choice........

Putting aside all the bitterness and crap attempts at homophobia Swindon direct at us, it is understandable that they'd be extremely pissed off if they sold their captain to us. I would be if we sold any of our decent players to Swindon!

So are we, but we let Crofts go. At the end of the day, whatever your Directors, you will always be "Swindon" a small family club from the sticks with very poor support.

He's well thought of by the fans too, and seems quite settled. As mentioned above he captained a team which made it to the play offs.

I doubt any player would leave a club for a sideways move, just because they thought the area was "prettier". As mentioned, if he cared enough, there's tonnes of beautiful locations to live in around Wiltshire.

This sounds more like a statement of intention from Gus to me? And it never does any harm to ask! Sure you'll do better next season than this...

It seems strange for the Argus to report it (or BHA to tell the Argus) if the move is unlikely to happen, i.e. if he rejects us. It will be massive egg on the face for us and perhaps affect the possibilities of others deciding to move here. I'm hoping this means it is a done deal but expect it is isn't :s
