Shows search results while you're typing in the query. Very impressive.

You might not see it yet. I'm on a US server here.

Yeah, just to be clear, the above page is what you get after typing just

seagu

(and not pressing Enter)

That's crazy and also likely to bring up some interesting results that you didnt intend when searching for certain terms.

The search results mate, not the predictive search terms.

Very impressive stuff, guessing this is what the HTML5 hype is about? Can only imagine how they can process such a vast amount of ever changing data in real time

The ability to do that is nothing to do HTML5, although that will allow it to display on screen without having to refresh the whole page.

The clever bit with google is the algorithms behind the scenes (that calculate the order of the results) and the structure of their databases.

They've also go a shed load of computer power to make it all happen quickly.

All that appears to be happening is its searching asynchronously as you type. It's not really "predicting anything", just searching on the fly.

Been doing a Computer Science Masters over the last few years and spent a lot of time having to sitting through the maths that makes it all work. It's all about Inverted Document Indexing if you are interested - It's very clever stuff.

It would appear Chrome is rendering HTML5. I saw something a bit odd the other night on my other PC. Did anyone else see the interactive balls thing - it definately wasn't using flash.

The interactive ball logo worked on all recent browsers I believe (checked on IE8 and FF3). However, I think both of these support very basic HTML5.

They had another clever logo today (which seems to have gone). 'Google' was simply a faint grey, but as you typed in the search box, character by character 'Google' coloured in, as if being typed.

It was doing some very odd things on my work computer, in fact I seem to recall it became usuable.

That was the faint grey thing.... you've just reminded me.
