Yeah. And if they hadn't presented me with a bill. I would have approximated the amount I thought I owed and left it on the table.

I think most people with any dignity would have done the same.

Which wouldn't be a particularly sensible move in an establishment where the staff are quite obviously not monitoring the tables closely.

I'm not sure what you know about dignity, I've read your blog. Thank Christ I didn't have to pay for it.

Yeah but isn't the case in point the bill was asked for a number of times, not an attempt to pay.

You see, I told you in plain English that I hadn't told you the whole story, and you STILL make a comment based on what you think happened which is completely wrong.

So not only have you wrongly accused me of being a thief, when I said to you that you didn't know the whole story, you've just made up the rest.

You're really have issues that need addressing as far away from here as possible.

 Who said anything about theft?

And you're not in a position to lecture ANYONE about disgraceful examples either.

So for once in your life, do yourself a favour and belt up, Timmy.

Under the circumstances you gave TLO I'd be inclined to say it was a civil matter rather than theft, you've made every attempt to get the bill and pay and they've failed to tell you how much or give you the bill. You intended to pay but couldn't because they wouldn't tell you how much so no theft it becomes a civil debt between them and you and since they haven't got your details its tough tits on them really - no theft, hope you enjoyed the free meal!

It's not habitual on my part, just careless on theirs.

Yeah but you're only a PCSO:wink:

Just to clarify and for the avoidance of future doubt for all, its called 'theft of services' if you leave a restaurant without paying.Irrespective of whether an attempt to pay was made or not.

A civil matter would occur if you are dissatisfied with the food or service you received.

I learnt this during my short and probationary time on the bench.

I'm curious - what is it called if someone sneaks (or wangles or grovels etc) into a stadium to watch a football match, without having purchased a ticket?
Is that trespass, or theft?

If an admission fee is required it is again 'theft of services'

However if one is invited by the BBC its fine:thumbsup:

I'm told buying Brighton Bus 'saver tickets' on line, or in retail outlets around town saves you £1.80 a pop.

A 7 day saver bought online has only cost me the equivalent of £13.75 ( 2 bought for £13 each plus £1.50 recorded delivery ) rather than £16 each at a designated shop or forking out loads for a daily saver from the bus driver.

following on from the rip off thread, what about posting some bargains or good value stuff?

Withdean Sportsman - £3.59 for a daytime carvery meal (£3.25 for kids), ok its not Michelin 5 star food but I took the wife and 2 kids there the other day, had a quick peek at the pitch to see how it was and then we all had a very large plate of hot fresh food and a drink all for under £19 which I didn't think was that bad.

i can tell you that the veg isnt fresh it gets left there for hours and all they do is take it in the kitchen at stur it and bring it back out
