Why McShane and Johnson who weren't our players to start with? Or bent and Conway?

How can you say that. some were sold for good money ( eg. Ulloa not worth what we got) or wanted to improve careers. it happens at all clubs!

Ulloa left us on good terms. Who is seriously going to stay with us when Premier League football is knocking on your door. Same goes for Barnes, Ward and Upson!

Noone, again, left on his own accord via Poyet.

Buckley?! The guy couldn't run 10 yards without snapping another bloody muscle! Good riddance to be honest.

Now we've seen a once competitive team dismantled by the "Football People" at the club, what confidence do we have that the club will identify & develop the best young talent in our region (which is a huge catchment)?

Hearing worrying things about the youth development. Wonder if Tony has a clear view of how his latest £30m investment is being used?

As the old adage goes, it's the people not the bricks & mortar.

Now we've seen a once competitive team dismantled ...

eh? its a team/squad from the past half decade that never existed. might as well add Zamora, Keown, Ward and Lawrenson.

Your reasoning could apply to any club, anywhere and any time. It's football and loads of different reasons apply as to whether a player stays or goes. It's far too simplistic to infer that the club are at fault for the departure of the players you've listed.

well , the point that the OP is making is that we have let good players go , and replaced them with ,( mainly ) inferior stock , in an attempt to "Balance the books ", im not sure that this policy has achieved the desired results, it dosnt help when one watches MOTD and see the likes of Murray, Barnes and Vokes plying their trade in the Premiership, all of whom slipped through our fingers for varous reasons

Surely it's not been a matter of balancing the books but more a question of limiting the amount of additional funding required from the shareholders to maintain the football club? This amounts to about £33m during our first three years at the Amex.

I see the OPs point and a number of those players are in their early thirties and could be "back at our level" once more.

Its not just about who has gone (Murray biggest mistake) but also what we have replaced them with. There was only 4 players playing against Bournemouth that i would want for next season!!!

But some of the replacements are in the team, if we had Murray we probably wouldn't have bought ulloa etc
