really? what in the sussex end? gotta say in the mound stand we gave as good as we got but hampshire had 70% of the stand and we wer outsung at times....still no need for afters

Well maybe where you were, but if you went to the far left, there were about 500 Hampshire crowded into the corner, with about 20 Sussex. If you lot were vocal, the sound certainly didn't travel..

The writing was on the wall after 20 overs. The wicket seemed to be doing a bit ealry on, but at least they bowled the right line to expolit it.

We didm't post a good total and bowled poorly.

That may have been due to us being shit from approximately the 3rd over onwards.

Absolutely gutted today. First visit to Lords, and we simply didn't turn up. to be honest, it was all over by 11:15. As above, hate to say it, but Cork was the difference.

Exactly my situation (for a big Sussex match, anyway), and my feelings on the subject. It was the equivalent of being 3-0 down after five minutes, and all the rest was just a long, drawn-out death by a thousand cuts.

Losing a close contest is one thing, but there was no contest. I suppose every team is allowed an off day, just a shame it had to be that one. The thing I was especially sorry about was that you never really got to hear the Sussex crowd in full voice, there were loads of fans there all over the place but despite some isolated efforts there was just nothing to sing about.

Instead we had to listen to a load of cretins singing 'Hamp-er-shire' all afternoon, and I doubt there is a worse song in sport, let alone cricket.

It seems they would have batted too, so in that sense it was a great toss to lose as the ball was doing all sorts in that first 3/4 of an hour, and their bowlers exploited things magnificently. Then, because of all the early wickets, those batsmen in our middle/lower order who normally clatter it about couldn't, and the whole innings was f***ed. When they batted, it looked a different pitch but I couldn't work out whether that was more to do with their better bowling, or the conditions had changed. Maybe both.

Anyway, the view of Lord's from the Upper Grandstand was magnificent, even if what was going on below was less magnificent.
