Early 1997, during the height of the protests, saw the first incarnation of NSC as an open forum. At the time we had a good old fashioned striker in Ian Baird.

And what's he doing these days? Perhaps he could fill this role for us?

The difference is that Fleetwood also play a totally different style to us as well.

appreciate that, but feel we have to have a plan 'b' . The opposition will still have the statutory 6' + defenders against us, we need to unsettle them, which is what the op was hinting at. Only using Parkin as an example because a player of his experience / stature fits the bill.

We certainly need someone who can do stuff we're not currently doing - I'm not the manager, so I can't say what that something is, but I'm confident there is something that somebody could be doing. They need to do it well, be consistent, but not too well or too consistently, or they'd cost too much and/or be poached by another club. So, we need someone who's currently quite average, but potentially brilliant, but who will remain loyal to the club when he becomes brilliant. That's actually quite encouraging, because there's a fair few of this type of player around.

Last night we were crying out for somebody who can pick the ball up and either be creative with it or run with it and reek some havoc.

Vicente anyone?

What we need is one of those good old-fashioned centre forwards who could score a goal even if the goalkeeper safely was holding the ball just by bundling the goalkeeper plus ball in to the back of the net.

What do you mean it wouldn't be allowed.

This is the funniest thread on NSC in about a year. Not sure if it's a couple of 12 year olds playing FIFA or some expert trolling but either way :D

Pretty convinced at least 1 is serious

I had to check this thread hadn't been bounced.

Ulloa has just scored in 5 consecutive games! Despite a stop start season for him he's got 11 goals in 22 appearances. Superb.

We don't need a striker, we need our bloody midfield to put their shooting boots on! (which was why the injury to Crofts was such a hammer blow).

Well said . we really have not had a decent creative midfielder since Elliot left for Norwich. I have always maintained, that even under Gus we have lacked in that department, with the exception of Vincente.

Bit worried that some people actually thought I was being serious :lolol:. Might make it a bit harder to detect with the amount of bile being spouted in the last 24 hours I suppose...

Didn't your use of GET IT IN THE MIXER rather give away your joke ? :lolol:
