Referee Kim Milton Nielsen will not take charge of England's crucial Euro 2004 qualifier against Turkey after hurting his thigh during a Danish league game.

The official famously sent-off David Beckham during the 1998 World Cup clash against Argentina.

The Dane suffered the injury during the match between Viborg and AaB on Sunday.

He told DR Sporten: "It's a huge disappointment, but there's no reason to go down there and take chances.

"I'm not ready now and I won't be ready on Saturday either."

Uefa are expected to name a replacement in the next few days.
