I'm no Hove drinker but I'd suggest The George Payne, The Station, The Freemasons or The Wick.

Plenty of good pubs in Hove, but can't think of many with tapas, and full of albion fans ( except on a televised match day).

Used to go to the Bottle and Jug for my Dad and Grandad in the 60's,drank there until the end,worked there in the early 70's,and NEVER mastered the angles on that very odd bar billiards table.My Dad met my Mum there in the war,my Grandad lived on the Knoll and in his later years gardened in Mr Scrines abandoned plot.

It was,truly,a neighbourhood pub of great merit.

Now it's a bunch of bloomin' flats.

I worked there in the 70's too, when Vince was there. Closing time in the public bar trying to get the paddies to drink up was interesting at times. Btw it was replaced with a row of houses, not a block of flats.

The cliftonville was right by hove station. Now the station pub I think it's called. Nice enough & think Tuesday is busy with 2-4-1 pizza, GOOD pizza.
