Mid sussex is ok, but I prefer Rookwood, for a council course it's fantastic.
Hassocks is nothing special, but I quite like it.
Singing Hills is probably my fave local one, I was a member there this year.
Hill Barn is ok if you have strong legs. Beware - you don't play any shot from level ground in the entire round (well, almost)

I have always loved East Brighton if only for the fantastic par five that goes down the hill looking over to St Dunstans. fantastic view

oh and the main course at Rye, cant remember the names but the second is a bit manky but a REAL links course

I have played all of these before, im looking for somewhere new.

I agree about Rookwood, great course. to be fair to Mid Sussex it has improved a lot in the last year.

Rookwood, Singing Hills and Mid sussex are the ones I play most often.

Mannings Heath is quite good, only played one of the courses though, not the members one.
Rustington is quite fun, but not difficult, quite short and flat - plus being a 9 hole course, playing it twice round can be a pain.

Give Seaford Head ago its a nice course but the main attraction is the 18th its one of the most memorable holes I have played.
The view from the tee is special.

Hassocks is 3 flat fields & needs a driver off just the one hole..It only exists to make worse than average players think they're better than average

Also bit of a drive but Old Thorns on the A3 (yea not quite in Sussex I know) is absolutely superb.

It's on teetimes.co.uk over the winter too.

A gorgeous course at a great price. Worth the trip.

I always play Hassocks if im in a bit of a bad patch, always come away with a nice scorecard. by far the easiest course Iv played.

but also very enjoyable for that reason alone, quite fun to play with non-golfers as they dont get to wound up.

read this thread with interest.
Seaford Head, great views and some memorable holes.
Hassocks, give it a miss
Mid Sussex, ditto
Old Thorns, supurb but take a buggy
ESN, get a day ticket and play both the East and West, again with a buggy for the day.
Best value for money = Waterhall, council owned but great views good breakfast and some good holes, £10 weekdays and £15 weekends. greens have improved no end as well.

ESN is somthing i will do next summer, not in the winter.
