Wow, so many memories and the thread has been up for less than 24 hours. Please, keep them coming.

Seems there is also some interest in getting something organised.

It definitely was a midweek. Dark and a bit damp, the goldstone grass glistened and Newcastle also wore their horrible yellow and green away striped shirt.

I was there , definitely a Wednesday evening game

Are you the overly tall guy with the absurd grin? or the shortie in front of you with no mouth? :)

Also, if you were in the North Stand, what happened to the roof?

That photo was Doncaster. BM would have been 1981/82 and I'd have been about 10!

Shortie is the late great Little Richard

There were a few more of us out of shot, SPF half in the shot, I guess only pasty would recognise him from that.

Surprised the Norwich quarter final goal from Jimmy Case hasn’t been mentioned yet!

Electric atmosphere that day that only a cup tie (in those days) could bring.

Agreed. I remember having to climb up the South-east terrace floodlight to get a view.

Certainly do! Guess I must have been one of those out of shot :lolol:

I have fantastic memories of the great victories and horrible defeats already mentioned above. Most of all I remember the Goldstone for emotional reasons and simply because going there as a kid was a great occasion. Memories of going there with my Dad as a young child. The atmosphere at evening matches when we were pushing for promotion. The Goldstone was an integral part of my teenage years - going there with my mates gave me some independence and an outlet for excess testosterone! Win or lose it was an important part of my life for more than 30 years and I’m sad that my boys will never experience standing in the North Stand.

Chips in cups , every wins a wunner, Chris Cattlin putting his hand through the fence and stealing my popcorn.

How I'd love to go back just once with my late old man.

The game where little Nige the mascot did a Klinsmann dive in front of the North and his shorts came down. Honestly never seen something funnier at a football match before or since. Took a bow, and was cheered like he’d scored a winner. Bloke is an absolute Legend. Chuckling even now at the thought of!

I wanted to post this too. Never knew the guy but have since learned his name and a bit about him from on here. I agree, have never seen anything as funny as that at a football game. It was almost like the whole thing was faked it was such slapstick perfection. Trying to pull his shorts back up but not being able to as he was kneeling on them, with everything on show to the North Stand. :bigwave:

Yes, you’re right about it almost feeling fake such was the slapstick nature. Can’t for the life of me remember which match it was. Maybe Lenny Rider knows?
