January - 4th Round FA Cup Replay - a 3-2 defeat to reigning Division One Champions Liverpool - and we could have won it (Mike Small had a goal disallowed)

January - Bryan Wade 4 Newcastle 2

May - Dean Wilkins' injury time free kick vs. Ipswich in the last game of the season to get us into the Play Offs. One of my favourite Albion moments - I can still picture the sweet left-footed strike sailing into the top corner beyond a flailing Phil Parks. Bedlam

May - The next game - a thumping 4-1 first leg victory over Millwall. We got 3 goals in 7 minutes in a crazy second half

The pitch invasion and protests in April 1996 (the match v York), and subsequently having to replay the game the week after the final game of the season: an odd daytime, midweek kick off in front of about 2,000 fans. York won, survived and Carlisle were relegated

The Fans United Hartlepool game obviously (February 1997). Plymouth Argyle and Eintracht Frankfurt in the house. Solidarity

And two months later, the last game under floodlights - the crucial (weren't they all?) 1-0 win over Barnet. Gritty (in every respect)

Three goals in the last ten minutes to come from behind against Torquay in the Saward promotion year. Although we still had to wait for promotion to be mathematically certain, that for me was the moment when we just sort of knew it was going to be our year.

Second half, and all the goals scored at the South end, so through the rain the goals were difficult to see. Steve Foster (49), Jimmy Case (80) and Andy Richie (82)
Oh yeah, Bruce Grobbelaar singing to the North stand......Cheeky Bogart!!

The rain didn't feel so wet after that!!

I only got 9 seasons at the Goldstone and most of those were, if we're being honest, pretty shit but reading this thread has made me realise there's still a treasure trove of games that can be considered form those years. To those not already mentioned I'd like to add the Orient 4-4 draw, the mansfield boycott/break in, Crawley in the Cup, Leicester in the league cup(might just be me on that one but I loved it) and my favourite ever defeat - 5-3 to Cardiff (from 1 up we collapsed like the england top/middle/lower order to 1-5 down before a stirring semi come back).

I think the game which we boycotted and then managed to storm the East Stand gates to get in for free was, if not a highlight, an important part of the protest.

But I'd like to remember happy times. Seeing Tony Meola in goal after having watched him in the World Cup was great fun. He was awful.

I enjoyed that game when we scored two goals in injury time against Portsmouth. No idea of the year. Also, I seem to remember a goal against Palace which ended a long run of games without scoring. The real joy was the place itself though. Felt like home regardless of opposition or incident. There was something about terraced grounds that can never be replicated in modern stadiums.
