I love Koh Samui, been there 5 times in 2 years.

The nicest budget hotel I've found is Queen Boutique, very clean, moden great location just to the end of Chaweng strip, air conditioning, free internet, tour info etc. cost for night 500THB about £10.

Queen Boutique Hotel Koh Samui

or a more up market resort, this is the nicest in Chaweng in my opinion
New Star Beach Resort
Chaweng Noi Beach, Koh Samui

Hire scooters for 200THB a day 100THB to fill the tank get a map and discover the island for yourself. There's loads to do, something for everyone.

The seafood is amazing on Koh Samui, really fresh and cheap, if you want a break from Thai food strongly recommend Zico's Brazilian Restaurant, it's right next to the queen boutique, looking at about 1000THB (£20) with a few large chang which is expensive to eat out in thailand as you can eat a pad thai for 60p, but this restaurant is unbelievable. Green/Red card eat as much you like steak house.

The green mango is a good club nightclub.

Thailand is such a lovely place, I fell in love with it the first time I went and am fortunate enough to keep returning for a few months here and there.

Never tell a taxi driver its your first time there. Look out for lady boys. Break up change in 7/11's. Enjoy...

I'm having withdrawal symtoms been back for two months going back in October can not wait.

Respect the locals and they will respect you.

Thai's have a lovely culture and are very welcoming but if you piss them off they will turn quickly.

Going to Bangkok, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, then Halong Bay in Vietnam, and to Angkor Wat in Cambodia in a months time :rave:

Pattaya? really... been there twice, only 1 night each time, not my cup of tea. Seen some dark stuff go on in Pattaya.

Halong Bay is nice wouldn't bother doing the tour with the nights stay on cat ba island wasn't a great deal to do on the island.

Going out for family wedding and staying at Sala Samui Result and Spa. Questions: Where to eat? (cheap), Whats the weather like? any good fishing? and any other comments welcome (within reason)

Loadsa fishing, very hot (expect rain this time of year), food will be reasonable, but is generally more expensive than the mainland (my experience of Thailand is that the street food is far better value) My tip on the food is if you want to eat Thai, go wherever seems popular with the locals! Enjoy!

Im off myself in 19 days days, except i'm up the N.E near the Laos border off the beaten track!

Don't trust a "girl" on a scooter.. Otherwise you may end up sleeping with the best looking bloke you never knew..After too many Sang soms that late night wank alternative may cost you more than £5....

I stayed at Sala Samui a few years ago. Choeng Mon beach is great and the bars on it are fab. Out of all of them our favourite was Crystals. Eat on the beach most of the time (the bars/restaurant serve food on the beach) as the Sala restaurant is very good but pricey - only really worth one meal to try it.

As a couple of things to do when you are there - the Big Buddha is worth a visit, and a great place from which to view the planes come in. Chaweng is ok as a town - but rather bustling and with a busy (but very large) beach, and that's not what i was after.

Hope you have a villa with a pool - they are fab. I highly recommend playing 'pool Olympics'. Fastest one to run around the pool (in it - not outside) is the winner. I think my record was about 20 seconds:)

Enjoy.
