Rather than an anthem, what about a recitment of Rupert Brooke's Soldier poem... If I Should die, think only this of me.
think it's the only anthem that refers to a person........
No, Drew's point is valid, they ARE representing England. You could be pedantic and say that the Football Association is not an actual official arm of the English government and therefore they don't officially represent 'England' - but as we haven't got an English government the argument that the Football Association's team doesn't ipso facto represent 'England' is really pedantic hair-splitting on an epic scale.er, it's not garbage. if England weren't representing our national league, then we wouldn't have an England team. We'd have to play as Britain.
Would much prefer Jerusalem to be our national anthem.

f*** knows how bad they'd be if they werent inspired thenThe thing to remember is that the England football team - despite all the rhetorical nonsense you hear - is representing the Football Association, not the country. So tbh the anthem chosen isn't really a big deal. I'd choose something that inspires the players (like "Flower of Scotland' does Scottish teams), if there is such a song, though I bet it makes next to no difference. In the past, Jerusalem might've done the trick, but I bet these days half the team wouldn't even know it, never mind be inspired by it.
