I think I've discovered what the God Delusion really is.

It's the opinion of atheists that nobody ever believes in a greater power unless they have been brainwashed or are incapable of free thought and decision making.

That truly is the delusion.

Funny you should say that, as I have said before, can you prove that your higher authority exists ? You seem to forget that in order to convince people of such a thing you have the burden of proof. (Just like my little Green Men).

If you need a fictitous book to teach you a moral code you are weak.

Religion is culpable for as much hatred. Gay people are targeted by religious people. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Disgrace.

I'm not trying to convince people though am I.

The only consesus that can be reached by open minded people is that there is nobody knows the absolute truth.

If either side or the coin argue they do they are incredibly closed minded individuals.

So all people who believe in a God hate gays? I think what you mean is all people religious or not who target gays should be ashamed. Or is it just the religious ones who should be ashamed? The disgrace is sloppy thinking.

Are you by chance a troglodyte?

Since when does reading fiction detract from a message contained within it?

Are you saying that if you read a book like to Kill a Mockingbird you are weak because you learnt something from it?

Not sure i'm following your reasoning.

You'll have to forgive him, he's one of the new rabid generation who summise that the 1% of religious people who are fundamentalists actually represent the other 99% in their views and actions.

The point i was making was that the bible prmotes persicution of gay people which i am sure you will agree is ridiculous and inhumane. That is just one of the many many problems with the bible. If you do not understand the point please feel free to seek assistance from an adult.

Although the scientific understanding of evolution and the universe seems to contradict the old testament view of creation and 'God', the more I learn about science and the universe the more plausible I find the idea of a creator/ intelligent design.

"The laws of science, as we know them at present, contain many fundamental numbers, like the size of the electric charge of the electron and the ratio of the masses of the proton and the electron. ... The remarkable fact is that the values of these numbers seem to have been very finely adjusted to make possible the development of life." Stephen Hawkin's

The bible also promotes ideals that would dictate you don't persecute them nor harm them, you'd know that if you had any knowledge of what's actually written within its pages.

Let's be honest, a gay chap is more likely to get bashed up brain dead godless thugs than he is by a few Jehovahs.

You mean its not unique to humanity.

A gay man is more likely to cop a beating from a football fan than he is from a religious person.

You might see a couple of religious nutters shouting homophobic slurs every now and then. If you want to hear it more frequently and by bigger numbers go to the football.

It's an age-old question, and I wouldn't want to suggest it's more than another outlook or opinion - but looking out of my eyes and realizing my own existence is convincing enough for me, that there is a creator (call it nature, the energy of all life, whatever you like).
The thought that this creator enables me to live and breathe, and I am free to choose my own way, has me thankful for life as it is - but feeling responsible enough to want to be able to answer for my choices ultimately.
We are taught to respect other life, and I think the commandments in the old testament are well founded pillars of wisdom to be guided by.

I see, so despite the fact that 'God' is merciful it's okay to look down on gays ? Well I suppose it can't be judging by the number of paedophile priests that the Catholic Church has tried so hard to ignore. I suppose these men of God are Godomites.

have you ever read the egyptian book of the gods? If you have, you will have noted it was written many hundreds of years before the bible and yet the bible has many identical stories. I wonder why?
