Joey Jo Jo Jr. Shabadoo I believe in Joe Hendry Oct 4, 2003 12,107 Aug 3, 2023 #4 Apparently it was the mid-90s that it started changing and keepers wore they own kit separate to the outfield players A history of goalkeeper kits and football shirts | Goalkeepers are Different A rough guide to the history of goalkeeper shirts, football kits and the players who wear them www.goalkeepersaredifferent.com It seems a more recent change than that to me though. This from the Man Utd website seems to back up the mid 90s thing (maybe it was a PL thing to start with that took longer to filter down the pyramid?) Ten things you need to know about Man Utd goalkeeper kits Whether it's numbers, logos or fabrics, United's goalkeeping shirts have evolved a lot over the years. www.manutd.com

I understand the FA changed the rules in this in the mid 1990s, where previously only the top half had to be different from the outfield players.
