Totally agree. I think it's great that we can get non-Albion Sussex people to come along and support us - and they're not going to start by going away to Carlisle away are they? If we'd put in a better performance then the youngsters might be pleading with Dad to take them more often.

More so-called 'Gloryhunters', and less STHs at big games in future please.

(Note to DtG - we're not agreeing much today are we? :lolol: )

I totally agree with you....stuff the STH's.

Oh and by the way, when we dont renew, presumably it will be our fault that the club goes under.

1st game I attended was Albion v Palace and I only went along to see what the fuss about Alison's Palace and their tricky winger Peter taylor was about. I had no interest in watching Brighton it just happened to be the team that I was interested in watching were competing against. Here I am thousands of pounds later still going whenever I can.

Big games are the ones that many non fans will go to out of interest and then who knows, you have to get them watching to have any chance of them coming back.

I'm sick of all the sth bollocks, yes they have a point but they really need to get a life a month on from the disappointment. as has been mentioned by quite a few, if you REALLY REALLY wanted to go you'd have got a ticket even if it was in the home end.

This weeks fair weather/vaguely interested fan could be next seasons die hard. The Albion is not some exclusive club that you need to serve some f***ing painful apprenticeship to be a true fan and accepted by the super fan.

Just far enough away from LDC
At this stage we dont know how many season ticket holders were unlucky and didn't get tickets. It could be 1000, 500 or 50.

If I was unlucky and couldn't have got one, who would I have wanted to have a ticket instead? Someone who only comes out for big games and never appears in between, or someone to whom it is their first game and there is a sporting chance they'll be back.

I think I'd go for the latter thanks!

Mind you I'm not sure a 3-0 drubbing helps :(
I doubt even that matters to many - as I recall, a lot of the "what was your first Albion game?" threads that have ever appeared on here featured a great many replies along the lines of "we lost and were terrible that day but I was hooked".

Stuff the STHs like me - I think we should have a forcible "buddy up with a gloryhunter" day at Withdean, where everyone who knows where Grimsby is gets forced to sit next to some posh bloke with four hotdog-munching kids in tow and explain how offside works.

Hit the nail right on the head mate. How many on here went to their first game when they were little not to see the Albion but who they were playing? My first was in the early 70s (I was 6 or 7 at the time) - my dad only took me because it was a cup game against Chelsea. Although I've been a STH for 15 years or so, it was only to show the missus that I already had a 'prior engagement' if she wants me to do anything else when there's a game on.

How does it work?

Erm, one bloke kicks it to another bloke...erm, something about the goalline, at least one defender between, one bloke and the other one...er...so keeper CAN be on halfway line and it's not offside...erm, something like that. All I know is that I shout at the linesman when he gives it against us.

The trouble is normally when we get a random family sitting in front of us in the numerous spare seats that have appeared in the South Stand, they generally get the hump with some of the language that is used...

"Hi, welcome to Withdean. This is football. When that blind man in the middle blows and points in that direction, you swear at him. Got that? Have a nice day and, kids, enjoy those hot dogs."

See? It's all about education, education, education.

And apologies for the unfunny bloke in F Block, he makes comments that he thinks are funny but are in fact annoying or boring, best not to laugh as if he has an audience he will only carrying on.

Enjoy the rain and the wind from the bald chap.

I am sure that those loyal fans who follow the Albion on a regular basis but could`nt get tickets for West Ham will be delighted to hear this snippet of conversation I overheard at Upton Park:

PA Announcer announces the arrival of Sam Rents as substitute in the second half
Bloke in front of me: "Rents ?Whos he?".

And? What is your point? :lolol:

Could someone point out a few players to me tommorrow night. My first game in ages, and might struggle to identify a few!

I'll be the fat bastard with the Bath Rugby hat on (haven't got any Brighton gear:down: )

No problem Dr Q. Here are a few pointers;

The one 15 years older than all the others is Guy Butters.
The one winning all the headers is also Guy Butters.

The one in the Brighton team who all the 'loyal' Albion fans are jeering is Wayne Henderson.

The one they are all cheering on the bench is Michel Kuipers.

The one working his nads off up front is Alex Revell.

The one with genuine ability is Dean Cox.

The one getting substituted is Tommy Fraser.

Hope this helps.

Good to have you on board.

To be honest, if I was going to introduce a newcomer to the Albion, I'd far rather it was at a big away game with atmosphere than a dreary match at a wet and windy Withdean.

Much as I would have liked to go to West Ham, I've got no problem with new supporters going, hopefully they'll get bitten by the bug, we sure as hell need them.

As for glory hunters, most people from around Sussex can get cheaper tickets at Charlton if they want to watch top flight football, I'm just happy that they choose to watch the Albion.

Those people who know where Grimsby is, should avoid it like the plague.

Simply that many loyal fans who support the club on a regular basis (not necessarly just STHs) missed out on tickets. It is only right that they should be made aware that there were many in the Albion end who got tickets who evidently watch the club once in a blue moon.
I have no problem with occasional fans getting tickets but , like many others, I do feel that this should not have been at the expense of those regular fans who form the core of our fanbase. How you sort that......well thats another story and I don`t want to open up another "Ticket Allocation" thread.
