That list looks pretty accurate to me until you see Man U about 15 places too low and us about 10 too high.

I'm not complaining though. It's something nice to wave around if we get Leeds or Villa or someone on here going on about how much bigger than them we are.

Need to break into the top 20. Still "below the fold", or at least the digital equivalent, below the "see more"

what you don't understand the "English" word invented in this country in 1863 ?

It is not an American word, it was taken over to America by college and university teachers.

It gets me that people still think complaining that an American site uses the word "soccer" is somehow insightful or original.

I would normally agree with you, but my wife has instilled in me to never trust anyone from Ohio for some reason, she calls them all Rutters !!

Why ?

I don't understand how this works.
My Palmeiras supporting son in law is always telling me that they are better than a small club like Brighton yet they are 75th.
That said, I would have thought that them and Flamengo would be higher then the positions in that chart.

Why? The term comes from England.
"Soccer" is an odd survival. The word 'footer' is roughly contemporaneous in origin, and identical in meaning. Only luck kept that one relatively obscure. Probably would be lost to time except from an immortal passage in Wodehouse

The trouble with you, Spode, is that just because you have succeeded in inducing a handful of half-wits to disfigure the London scene by going about in black shorts, you think you’re someone. You hear them shouting ‘Heil, Spode!’ and you imagine it is the Voice of the People. That is where you make your bloomer. What the Voice of the People is saying is: ‘Look at that frightful ass Spode s******* about in footer bags! Did you ever in your puff see such a perfect perisher?’”

Apparently one cannot say 'sw@nking about' in these parts....
