Agree with and understand all that - let's just hope the financial model for professional football changes, and sharpish - people's health shouldn't be put above the cost of paying the piper - Sky!

Yes, the current model of having a heap load of money and giving it all to the players isn’t going to work. Like normal human beings who could afford it, they needed to put something aside for a rainy day. The bubble needed to be burst - it’s just a shame that something as tragic and decade defining as this should be the cause.

He is giving the impression of running scared which can be excused in the circumstances.
Though some seem to turn it into and obsession.
Players should be given the choice to play or not, I am sure a squad can be formed from the ones willing to.

Agreed, but most others at real risk are doing important jobs. Football isn’t really important, other than to those who have a lot to lose because of their investment in it. Investments can go down as well as up.

And that, in a nutshell, is where most fans have a blind spot. It’s about far more than club owners and greedy businessmen. Football in this country, directly and indirectly, supports tens if not hundreds of thousands of jobs. When it should resume is a debatable point - but like all other industries, it has to explore the options. It’s unfortunate that the public interest is such that this is played out in the papers but all other businesses are doing exactly the same.

There will be a lot of people who don’t want to go back to work and may have to do so in circumstances that carry some risk. They shouldn’t be forced, but most people are not in a financial position to quibble with their employers - particularly when many business owners are already looking for candidates for redundancy.

Footballers are very fortunate to be able to argue the toss. Most of us won’t have a choice.

Not quite. The country has been told to return to work if safe to do so and assured that the Health and Safety Executive will carry out spot checks to ensure compliance. For many this will work. For those that play close contact sports it is unlikely to work. That is how the current debate around football is framed.
