Not the real one
I kind of agree, but I guess if he gets us to 'The Prem' which is worth what, £300mill? £3mil isnt much in comparison.

That sounds great except that he's already here to fire us there! However, looking long term, no doubt the Club believe Murray can still do a job in the Premier League. So this 3 mil is more about securing a striker that might chip in with 10 goals or more in the Prem. If our Promotion push stutters and comes off the track this year, we've got Glenn to help us next year too. I think it's a sound bit of business.

What drivel.

He is contracted until the end of the season. If we went up we could have improved on him. Two Premier league clubs didn't think he could cut it at that level. Murray is fantastic at this level but i wouldn't tie him down to a long deal if we went up.

IF we go up and IF he can't cut it then we get our £3mill back from a team desperate for a proven Championship goalscorer. It would be the ultimate irony if that team was Palace.

Whether we go up or not, Glenn will be an asset to the team. Yes he's getting on a smidgeon at 33, but his game has never been about pace or workrate (even though his workrate actually seems to have gone up to me, since he left and came back). He's like a poor mans Teddy Sheringham, and I don't mean that in a disparaging way. His game is about positional sense, touch, control, and intelligence in the box. He's still up to it physically, and he's still an ice-cool finisher.

Touch wood, his fitness has not been an issue this season. An 18 month deal is a no-brainer IMO. Sign him up.

As he is already with us do we have to make the deal permanent by Wednesday or could we do this and change it in a couple of weeks out of the window

This is a good question, and one I don't know the answer to. We turned LuaLua's loan into a permanent transfer on November 16 2011 (ie outside of a transfer window) but the initial loan had been reported as "with a view to a permanent transfer", so it is possible that the initial loan deal might have to include a clause to that effect for a permanent deal to be finalised outside of the window (and if that is the case, I have no idea if such a clause was in Murray's deal).

Anyone?

Re signing Glenn Murray is fantastic! He should never have been let go of in the first place!

MURRAY COMPLETES PERMANENT MOVE

Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of Glenn Murray from AFC Bournemouth on a permanent transfer, on undisclosed terms.

Murray has scored 15 goals in 28 appearances since his loan arrival from the Cherries this summer and has agreed a deal until June 2019.

Manager Chris Hughton said, "Glenn has made a big contribution in the first half of the season, not only in terms of his goals, but as a senior member of the squad.

"He has done exactly what we had hoped he would do when we took him on loan from Bournemouth in the summer, and has been a crucial part of our team and squad so far this season. I am delighted that he wants to commit his long-term future to the club."

Murray, 33, began his career with his hometown club Carlisle United, with two spells either side of a stint in North America with Wilmington Hammerheads.

Subsequent spells followed with Stockport County and Rochdale before his first spell with Albion, signing for Dean Wilkins in a £300,000 move in January 2007.

He fired 56 goals in his first spell, helping Albion win the League One championship in 2011, before moving to Crystal Palace.

Murray scored 47 times for the Eagles, helping them to promotion to the Premier League in 2013, and after a brief spell on loan at Reading in 2014, made a big-money move to Bournemouth in the summer of 2015.

Despite finding opportunities limited at Dean Court, he still found the net four times from just seven starts for the Cherries, including a memorable winner at Stamford Bridge.

He joined Albion on a season loan deal in July 2016; and he has now scored 71 of his 165 career goals for the Seagulls.

Superb news. Murray has made the difference this season, and will hopefully continue to score goals for the remainder of the season and prove he can still score at the very top level next season.
