glenn murray - partner not being able to settle

I do not go along with this excuse for handing in a transfer request. Professional footballers move on from time to time and their respective partners should already know this is the nature of the beast. Lets see if Murray or/and his partner complains should a bigger club come in for him, with more money offered, whether thats in the south/midlands or north of England.
Brighton is one of the nicest places to live and I think Murray should be a bit more honest, I've lost any respect for the guy. He is a talented footballer and I don't think we should accept less than £650,000 including add ons for future transfer fees.
Why did he give an interview some 5 weeks ago to the Argus saying he is going nowhere 'even if we get relegated'. If he loved playing here he would have put his missus right, she should be supporting him, he brings in the wage bearing in mind she is now a mother herself and reliant on him. All this codswallop about not being able to settle frustrates the hell out of me.
Murray has not been honest with the club, let him go, the sooner the better. Whoever else wants to leave, ie, Whing etc, then the sooner they go the better. I have a lot of faith in our manager, he needs to know where he stands in terms of finance so lets clear the decks asap and get some fresh blood in.

Being a northerner, he should give her a right good SLAP.

Unless, as I suspect, he's just seeing if there's any more money available elsewhere.

My missus would support me in my career where ever I need to be. Get some balls Murray you prink. Hehehehe!

Seriously whatever the reason let him go. We will be fine one player does not a team make.

Murray hasnt comeout and said anything yet. So how do you know this is the case

It maybe that his agent has told him a big club wants to bid for him, and our club have stopped it. Murray may really want to go to this other club, therefore handed in his transfer request.

There are many reasons he may ant to leave. Maybe he just didnt get on with Slade, who knows?

Im sure the reason will come out, and if its not settling down here, then at least he is honest with us

why say a few weeks ago that he was prepared to stay if we went down, should have kept his mouth shut. If his missus is struggling living down here now, she certainly was not happy some 5 weeks ago. Do not accept he has been honest at all.

There may be a number of reasons for his wanting to leave. Perhaps no small contibution comes from the small section of fans that get on his back regularly.

I'm more interested to know what bigger clubs would be interested in signing a player who has spent so long injured in the last two seasons. He is undoubtedly a good player, although I find it hard to believe he will flourish in the Championship as some seem to take as a given, but it will be interesting to see who actually (if anyone) comes in for him

I'm dissapointed with his decision, whatever the reason, but I suppose any notion of loyalty amongst footballers to clubs is a long lost tradition. Hope Slade puts his foot down - he is right when he says we made a big invesment in him and he has 2 years contract yet.

If he want to go then,,bye bye!!!!Bet his missus will be pissed off in a couple of years, when we are a bigger club and doing better than wherever he ends up.Anyway we got out of the mess last season without him and got in the shit with him, goals or no goals.A player that dosnt want to stay can fcuk off..500k will do.

Was he injured at all the season before this?
Perhaps other clubs will wonder if his injuries are in part caused by our approach to them (a la Virgo)?

This kind of situation is seldom black and white. If Murray's wife/partner is unable to settle down here having given it a go,what is the guy meant to do? They have recently had a baby and without knowing all the ins and outs of the situation, his first loyalty must lie with his family, surely? If the player has not got a settled and happy domestic situation, this could well impact on his performances for the team.
It is a shame, but not the end of the world for us...best let him go and crack on looking for a replacement. He is between a rock and a hard place and does not deserve abuse.
These things happen.

Seriously grow up lad. If his kid lives up north as the argus seem to think then who can blame him for wanting to be near. Will be a huge loss as Slade says best striker outside the championship but there are many things more imporant than football with being near and having in a say in a childs upbringing pretty near the top.

Are you saying his wife and kid live up north and he lives down here? There's a marriage that probably won't last if that's the case. I mean if she can't be arsed to follow the bread winner for a few years as he plies his trade in a short career it does beg the question what they are doing together. Did he tell her he worked in the local grocers when they 1st started going out together or did she get hitched to a footballer without thinking it through that he may leave Rochdale to better himself?

I mean it's not like he's asking her to live in the outer hebrides with no running water or electricity,

Just going by what the argus seem to think
Albion boss wants Murray to stay From The Argus)

bottom of the article.

But even if they are still down here but she wants to go back then her and the babies happiness have to come before football, especially lower league football

Purely hypothetical,

If any Premiership London club was interested in Murray, I wonder if the South/North argument would come into it in the Murray household?

Of course it's speculation if indeed the geographical location is a factor, it may be a player fallout Murray/Forster or A N Other or maybe he doesn't get on with Slade??

I have a very strict view on players seeing out there contracts if there has been no concrete offer on the table, especially when the player in question has been injured for 50% plus of the season, the player should remain with their current club.

my main concern is who we replace him with and when you take Murray out of the equation are strike force looks very average, what with a near 36 year old and a Donkey upfront.

If he was to go we need two more strikers, a Simpson who would be unproven and offer flair when coming off the bench, and a proven center forward who hustles and bustles up the top getting on to any ball, working for the team and getting vital goals and winning matches, something that Forster can't do as often as he used to.
