Our own fault. Still leaves me shaking my head that we destroyed League One and couldn't find a sum to ensure our 22 goal top scorer wouldn't start our first season at the Amex. Such a shame to reflect on those absent 5 years, GM as a 28 to 33 year old. Still, we had CMS so...

Excellent news, Saturday shows he still had it and with a number of new / young faces coming in (Maupay and Connolly for now, hopefully more to come in the summer) he can bring a much needed experienced head to proceedings, and if we do go down he can definitely still do a job at Championship level if others choose to scarper.

This is my favourite bit of his post-signing interview...

“I always try to pass things on when needed – probably more so to Aaron because he’s a bit younger. I just try and lead by example and go to [goalkeeping coach] Ben Roberts after training to get a finishing drill put on and things like that.

Possibility that this is a marriage of convenience. He is obviously frustrated at his lack of game time. Potter and club obviously want a different striker.

Club couldn't get a different striker in January but might do in the summer... so to avoid Glen kicking off to force a move when we still need him as a back up (or main man now, who knows!?) we've offered him effectively another year contract so that he has the security at least, if not the playing time.

I imagine that if in the summer we sign another striker or two, and he can find himself another club we'll let him go on a free with a happy handshake!

Essentially:

Club (in August): “we think you’re old and slow and you won’t make the team”

Murray (now): “I don’t care if you think I’m old and slow, Give me a new deal and some game time or I’m going to forest, leaving you with nowhere near enough strikers”
