Had to get a cab from East Croydon tonight as the next train to London bridge was going to be another 30 minutes.
The cabbie was Palace, but a fairly decent chap though. He has been to the Amex several times and said it's a great place to watch football.

He couldn't disguise his unhappiness that Glenn is banging in the goals for us.
Particularly with their continuing striker malaise.

It's not evened things out yet, but Murray's return is starting to heal some of the pain.
Great goal tonight, wasn't it?

Letting Murray go was Poyet's first big test. I don't think Bloom wanted him to leave but he gave the benefit of the doubt to someone who he thought had good judgment, and after all Poyet got us promoted for the Amex and had earned a certain amount of trust. His second big test was overspending on Mackerel Smith.

We have come full circle with Murray and now have a professional manager with good integrity at the helm. Our footballing intent is spot on and mainly a joy to watch. Murray leaving and coming back to work under Hughton is probably better than him staying here under Poyet so the whole episode has been put right with promotion this season a real possibility.
Good post.

If Murray stays fit, then you can hang 20 goals minimum on him this season, more likely 25. The only time he'll be benched is if Chris gives him a rest here and there.

With the service he's going to get this season, he absolutely guarantees you goals. Regardless of who (if) we get anyone in, Murray is going to be one of the first names on the teamsheet IMO.
Absolutely right. Good decision by CH to take him off last night. He'd done his job.

You do have to wonder why both Palace and the Albion let him go when clearly they didn't have any real need to. Same goes for Bumfluff.

I really do hope that particular tinpot outfit go down this season (possibly more than Palace, as I want us to beat them in the Premier league next season)

He looked thoroughly pissed off to be taken off, as clearly there were more goals there for him. Good to see.

Couldn't be happier with Murray being back in the side and banging in the goals. Just a natural striker who can create chances out of almost nothing, in contrast to the many strikers we've had in the Amex era who seem to have made almost nothing out of what looked like obvious opportunities.

He worked hard for the team last night too, I thought ... it's not just about trying to get on the end of every forward ball. Genuine quality.

Thank you Crystal Palace 2010 FC for letting your best & only good striker go and letting us have him back. 3 goals & contributed to 7 points so far #thanksforthat.

Oh dear. How could you possibly think Palace got the raw end of the deal? They got him for free, he got them up and then they sold him for £4m.

Ouch. Entirely accurate though. :nono:

Still, he has the opportunity to do it all again with us. He's making a very decent fist of it so far.

Indeed although I do like how no one ever mentions his first season with palace . 37 games 5 (five) goals .

That return wouldn't of got us promoted and Glenn would of been sold / let go the following year anyway

Wonder where we'd be now if the Murray-Barnes partnership had been kept intact?

I must apologise, you are correct, I remembered wrongly and thought the defeat to Liverpool came after the defeat by them, just shows getting older doesn't always make you wiser. Sorry.
No need to be sorry mate! Being middle-aged, I'm losing my ability to remember as well! It's just funny how many palace have completely let that result go by, for their own convenient pleasure.
