I think its a damning verdict on the England side that he's our right back. He is ALWAYS out of position, can't tackle and from a defensive point of view very, VERY poor.
Merson is right, his history is irrelevant, it doesn't change the facts.
Johnson's had a career in the top flight as a professional footballer and should be aware that criticism happens. He should grow up and move on or, heaven forbid, take the criticism on board.

Merson said "Johnson couldn't defend for toffee" so after the blackburn game he tweeted this apparently: "Comments from alcoholic drug abusers are not really gonna upset me and who is Paul Merson to jugde players, He was average at the best of times, the only reason he's on that show is... coz he gambled all his money away. The clown."
Both are right though.
Sad that Johnson should be so disingenuous after such a comment from a tv commentator. Easily aroused.
