Glastonbury Update

This is crap with The Young Knives looking like they are recreating 'the office' onstage, and The View sucked for being so bloody immature musically and with the rubbish between songs (what I could understand of it anyway. The Marleys are taking the 'reggae is laid way back and having a good time is wha 's all about mon' a bit too far for my taste.
edit; take back that about the reggae, they've got some good sounds going again and stopped just skipping about.

looked very muddy on the telly - glad Im an old git who decided against it this year. I wish that Zane whatever his name is had fallen over in the mud along with the stoned bint he was presenting with, oh and Jo Whiley too.

The Who were quality , really really good - can see there back catalogue sales going through the ROOF this week

other then that the Kaisers were pretty good, Maximo park were class, Mark Ronson was good (loved the California singalong) and suprisingly The Gossip threw one hell of a show forward, even if the music is abit shit..

I bailed out after lunch yesterday. I dropped some stuff off at the car and the fields were bad enough then without 40,000 odd cars having driven over it. Will be carnage this morning!

Some great music though Rufus and Martha Wainwright duetting on Hallelujah and the Arcade Fire stick out.

I got back this morning and had a great time. Left the site at 4am and, it the terminology of Danny Dyer which we chose to speak all weekend for some obscure reason, the mud was proper naughty on the way out. Spoke to my mate earlier who stayed a bit later and she had been stuck in mud for 3 hours and people were starting to lose their rags.

Am i and my mate the only ones who thought Iggy pop and the Stooges stole the show? We thought they were mesmerising and after only 3 of the Killers songs (on at the same time) we decided to turn over to BBC3.The bass guitarist looked like a feral beast and things were touch and go when Iggy invited the crowd onto the stage(to which they duly obliged).
Desperate to see highlights yesterday we waited in vain. Were they blackballed?

I didnt see them but friends said they were great. Blackballed.....it would take more than a few people on stage to get in trouble at Glastonbury. I was intending to go but went to the secret Madness gig in the Lost Vagueness Ballroom...which was mad and nutty.

Overall it was another great Glastonbury. Michael Eavis is god.

The BBC's coverage has re-ignited my desire for the place, mud or no mud. When will Eavis get his knighthood? would he accept one?

A secret Madness gig? wow, so much going in smaller venues, i was told that Damon Albarn did some great things too but seeing it all on multi-channel tv made me realise what you miss if you're actually there (i vaguely recall not giving a stuff about the big music on the big stages in the years i went).

It has re-invented itself a bit. This year there was an new field called The Park with a lot of random stuff involving a number of respected music bods. The secret gigs add a another dimention/dynamic to the festival.

The mud is a strange thing, whilst you could not escape it no-one seemed to ever really mention it. To be honest if you have a pair of wellies it doesnt really affect you too much. And dancing to Madness in a pair of wellies has a certain appeal.

If it has re-ignited your desire give it another go. I do not think you will be disappointed.

Behave!

Mud makes it (even) harder/slower to get around.

You have to be really careful when you get back to camp - unless you want a v messy tent.

And, perhaps worst of all, it means you can't just sit around and relax.

Mud is shit. Sometimes literally.
