I really wouldn't be surprised if it is Taylor Swift tbh. Eras tour ends in December and she can have a nice break and finally play the spot she was supposed to in 2020. If she hasn't actually quit the business, I'd almost guarantee Lizzo will be filling one of the spots. Many thought she should've been bumped up when Rihanna had to pull out last year - unlucky as I thought she was considerably more interesting to watch at home than GnR. She's apparently just finishing up her next album and will likely be touring it next year anyway. If not, Rihanna is due another shot at headlining after pulling out as she was pregnant last year.

That'd leave one last slot for a British artist to take the stage. Which will be one of Harry Styles, Sam Fender or Fred Again. Think more likely the latter due to Fender's star waning a bit, Styles probably being a bit too close to the other two headliners, and cost. Plus Fred Again performed a very secret set at Strummerville this year, and despite not being my thing, pulled one of the biggest crowds at the Other stage last year. People love him.

They'll not go small for the headliners next summer, whoever it is. SZA sounds like she only pulled about 30,000 last night, with the majority of the crowd never having heard of her. It's a rare dud from Eavis. I know she's massive with the youth and I'm sure that she'd pull in 100k at Reading but Glastonbury needs a more recognisable name than that to pull in the crowds for the closer.

She would not have her full show at Glastonbury, Eavis limits what you can have on stage, I remember this from an interview when U2 played. Maybe the logistics of rehearsing a truncated set and show was the issue? Just a guess.

Yeah, I think I read from some of those ITK on eFestivals that it was just a massive logistical nightmare and the opportunity to do 3 nights in Dublin came up and was the far more attractive option for the reasons you say. They seem to think that money wouldn't be a problem.

No point rehearsing a show of that magnitude for Wembley and then doing a crapper version live on the BBC a week later. Whilst she's more than capable of pulling off an Adele style headline set, I think crowds, knowing so visibly what the Eras tour is supposed to be and look like, would have found it disappointing not to get a special version of the Eras tour for Glasto.

Leaves next year as a wonderful opportunity for her to do her own thing at Glasto and have her moment.

As I was sadly ticketless this year (2 years running ) I've given myself enormous FOMO by watching a lot of the sets at home. My thoughts:

Olivia Dean and Barry Can't Swim were predictably incredible in their different ways and an amazing way to kick the weekend off, 1 after the other, on Friday. Both will have much bigger slots in the not distant future.

Little Simz, surely a future headliner. She is one of the greatest in her genre that there has ever been, and only keeps getting better.

Coldplay, quite a spectacle but my GOD is Chris Martin cringe. That's got to be the least 'cool' man in the world. Why on earth is he bringing the muppets out. Parts of the set were impressive, other parts made me physically recoil.

If I was there, there's no doubt whatsoever in my mind that I would've been at Disclosure instead, and I would've been going absolutely feral. Unbelievable performance and their catalogue is up there with the very, very best. I was living vicariously through that set.

I enjoyed Bombay Bicycle club and am looking forward to seeing them again at Lost Village this year. Loved the Damon Albarn cameo. Bloc Party were cool - a throwback, and really enjoyed LCD Soundsystem. Kenya Grace, quite fun, but not sure she's entirely nailed the live thing yet. Understandable considering her immediate rise from bedroom producer to the big stage. Sugababes looked great.

Charli XCX wasn't broadcast, however, I feel like I got a good view from the many Instagram stories I tortured myself by looking through. She's well and truly having her moment. The new album is brilliant and she has incredible star power. Having seen her suprise DJ set supporting Jamie XX in a sweaty 300 capacity room in Peckham a few weeks back, I can only imagine her set was special. Speaking of, Jamie XX's set at Woodsies too was great.

As mega popstars go, I like Dua Lipa a lot. I think her performance was good overall, but it came across as a little boring at times on the TV. Nothing particularly ground-breaking. Also, after going on record to say she won't shy away from publicly supporting Palestine, a shame not to hear a peep from her on the biggest stage of all in that regard. She's got a ridiculous amount of hits though.

Mannequin Pussy were absolutely mental, some very interesting monologues from the frontwoman there - looked good fun though and sent a good message, if in a slightly odd demeanour.

Confidence man are so so fun live. Amazing energy and some absolute bangers.

Shania Twain, very bad and never a legend in my eyes. Last time I went was 2022 and I was treated to Diana Ross in that slot - just no comparison betwen those two whatsoever in my eyes. I do stuggle to think who I'd book there though, running out of options.

Feel bad for SZA really, she shoudn't have been headlining, especially on the Sunday. Looks like she had one of the worst headliner turnouts ever and some weird things were going on with her mic. She's absolutely huge, so I can see why she was booked, but it just wasn't the right fit by the looks of things.

Justice was an amazing way to finish the festival, just a huge set. That just might've broken me out of my inevitable Sunday comedown had I been there. Incredible.

I would've killed to be at the Joy Anonymous B2B Salute set at Arcadia, and Bicep at IICON must've been unbelievable.

I adore Jungle. I've seen them so many times, and am reliably told they were euphoric (as they always are). As a result I might skip watching that one back.

Still to watch: Peggy Gou, Kasabian, Nia Archives, Declan McKenna, James Blake, Yard Act, The Mary Wallopers.

Hoping and praying I have better luck, tickets wise, next time.

I mean to briefly summarise I’ve walked myself into the ground chasing acts.

A few highlights starting off on the Friday were confidence man, amazing stage presence and amazing crowd, the energy when you gets thousands of Gay men in a field is truly unmatched, phenomenal.

Bombay Bicycle club were my next highlight a great little cameo from Damon Albarn and obviously me on lead guitar. Didn’t intend to stay for the whole set, but ended up doing so as I couldn’t be bothered to exit the crowd, they have a really good catalogue, Eat Sleep Wake, an absolute TUNE.

LCD Soundsystem are obviously one of the greatest bands of all time, not much more needs to be said. To hear All My Friends, with All My Friends with a beautiful sunset, incredible.

Fontaines another which I’ve waffled enough on here about how much I adore them. Barnstorming.

Kneecap were first thing Saturday and once again, I’ve waffled about them before. Just pure unadulterated Irish culture, very funny but with a interesting message, like a bit of chaos towards the system.

Mannequin Pussy I thought were really solid, good to see a bit of alternative music there, back end of the set definitely had some Hardcore roots, love that sort of stuff, wish Glastonbury would give more the opportunity, bands like Turnstile have got a huge crowd before at the festival, especially with Outbreak the same weekend, could definitely borrow some acts.

Bloc Party was a good bit of indie nostalgia, Silent Alarm probably the best album of that era and the same genre, except maybe a couple of Franz Albums.

Quick shoutout to @Whitechapel for recommending Cassisdead to me, didn’t know what to expect but a superb show on Lonely hearts club.

Followed that up with Yard Act who blew the roof off Woodsies, when I first saw them I wondered where they could take the sound, but tracks like Trench Coat Museum came off really well, and a bit of wit it was a great show.

Orbital were superb on the Park, an immersive amazing set from them, with very enjoyable guests.

Sunday I started with Lime Garden, good local Brighton band, got a new album out, would recommend highly.

Had a bit of a golden run coming up, starting with Blondshell, just think her voice is amazing, really quite simple catchy indie tunes. A really nice set, really pleased to have caught her.

Alvvays next, another band I’ve been a huge fan of for years. The new tunes sounded great, the old tunes sounded great, Archie Marry Me, one of the my favourite.

Finally the end of the run, Kim Gordon. Wow I mean I don’t really have words to describe what a legend she is. The music is experimental, new, fresh, the band is so tight, perfectos of their instruments. She’s 71, yet in my opinion played some of the best most exciting new music of the weekend for me. Don’t think anyone had her down at releasing a trap album, and the way it was performed live was mind blowing for me. I’m a huge sonic youth fan, and it was a legendary for me to see her. A real assault of the senses, my highlight by far. Loved being on the barrier for it, shout out to the security guards for hand signalling me the England score.

Justice saw out the weekend, another mind blowing performance, arguably could have headlined in my opinion.

A few other notes as well, finally made it in to NYC Downlow, truly shows you how mental Glastonbury is, it’s more exciting for people to find out what it’s like one day than to describe it. Also saw Fat Dog on Thursday night, an absolutely ridiculous band with mental lyrics, weird humour and just a bit of chaos added in. Think they’ll be the next from the South London Scene to hit it big.

Anyway let’s hope JPVH gets a Dutch call up!

Quick question for people who got tickets (lucky so and so's and hope you had a blast).
Is the process for getting a ticket when ticket sales go live a bit like
getting Albion tickets (a combination of panic, fast keyboard skills, luck etc? Just interested for
next year. Ta.

First of all you have to register.

Then on ticket sale day it is a matter of refreshing for 15-30 minutes in the hope that you pass the holding page to get through to a purchase page. You can increase your chances if there's multiple of you going because up to 6 people can be clicking refresh. Some people work together in groups or get people to help them buy the tickets. There are all sorts of superstitions about getting through but in my view it's just luck and have heard of people getting through on 3G in the middle of nowhere on holiday. However there does seem to be an amount of abusing workarounds if you know a specific IP/address that passes through to the purchase page but I do not know enough about how the internet works for that.

There are two main days to buy tickets, a Thursday in October where you can buy tickets reserved for people who will travel by coach. Only a relatively small number of tickets get sold on this day and you need to travel on your alloted coach to get the ticket which will be handed out by the coach driver.

On the following Sunday a general sale take place for the bulk of the tickets.

There's also a resale in April for tickets that have been returned for a last final chance. There are also working/volunteering opportunities. But if you wanted to volunteer for Oxfam for example you'd need to spend a year or so volunteering at less glamorous events before they let you apply for Glastonbury.

No. I went to Reading in 75, and saw Guns 'n Roses and The Cult at Donnington in the 90s. I found the general experience horrible. The crowds, the 'facilities' and most of the people. Mrs T persuaded me to go to Wide Awake in Brockwell Park last year. That was a fabulous day. Lots of space, no hoards of dick heads, nice friendly people wanting to chat with me about The Albion (I had an Albion shirt on). We saw Molchat Doma, A Place to Bury Strangers and Lebananon Hanover. It was sunny but unseasonably cold, with plenty of room for an Old Man to have a sit down. The concessions were accessible and reasonably priced. Magical.

The idea of camping, and being in a crowd of tens of thousands, with all those soppy flags (I laughed when Idles made them put them away) and the general milling around waiting between acts would have me in a right old state. I need to feel in control of my environment. I'd have a face like a smacked arse. So in general I hate 'festivals' too, but really enjoy watching decent sets on the tellybox, like Idles yesterday.

I do enjoy the camping but I think the music makes it for me. That’s why I go, I want to get my money’s worth haha. Primavera and Wide Awake I’ve been to recently without camping, and I do like it. Got to be a good lineup for me, I’m quite officious about the timings between stages and who I want to see.

I'll admit to finding The Coldplay hate just bizarre.

There'a a whole world of music that doesn't work for me, but I don't call it shit/shite/<insert another abusive term here>.

Me not liking something doesn't make it objectively shit.

I recall eagerly awaiting the arrival of Springsteen at the Pyramid Stage on the Saturday night way back in 2009. I'd not seen him live before, but his live sets were legendary. After half an hour I'd had enough - it just wasn't for me. It wasn't shite, it just didn't vibe with me. I staggered off and found The Wonder Stuff playing Dizzy in a tent somewhere and got involved in the bouncing around, having all kinds of fun.

Springsteen isn't shite. Coldplay aren't shite.

Music is a big, broad place. Enjoy what you like. Don't slag off the stuff you don't, nor the people who enjoy it.

Now I’m finally back and have internet connection I can say that Coldplay are shite. Well ACTUALLY their first few albums were great, got some great tunes, Yellow for example, but their post Viva La Vida output is absolutely dreadful, just basic pop, should go back to their routes IMO.
