How long before that wacky email about the revised events for the Manchester Commonwealth or London Olympics is changed for Glasgow and doing the rounds?

I give it a few hours, but about two weeks before they revise it to have religious intolerance in the event listing.

Glasgow hosting games = new sports facilities = new timing systems + displays = bonus for hans. Nice

Shame it didn't go to Lagos, though. The corruption stories would have kept a few people gainfully employed.

I hope the look forward to their council tax increase, as we in London have had to swallow! Interestingly (or not, depending on your point of view!), the total funding is supposed to be 80% from the Scottish coffers, and 20% from the rest of the UK. But of that 80%, a large portion will be made up of money given to Scotland by the treasury. So not only am I being stung for the London Olympics, I am also helping to pay for the Commonwealth games in Glasgow!:angry::angry:

Shame it didn't go to Lagos, though.

But Lagos wasn't bidding - Abuja was.

Still, your sentiments are spot on. This is terrible news for Glasgow and terrible for Scotland. Billions taking away from grassroots sports. Gentrification of the East End of Glasgow. Council Tax hikes. Utter, utter shite.
