I have been supporting my Albion since 1956 and that means numerous away games. How thrilled am I that we are jousting with the elite week in week out. None of our meteoric rise would have been possible without Uncle Tony and I have no doubt that when the time is right he will yet again put his hand in his pocket.
Yes, last night was not good. I travelled down from London somewhat in trepidation but I know the B team gave it their all and wanted nothing more than an Albion win. It was not good and it didn't work but it wasn't a 7-0 defeat a la Leeds

Four home wins last season. Two so far this season. Verge of greatness, or edge of despair?!
Anyway, I'm not going to stop supporting Albion. I'll go to some games. It's the upfront commitment of a season ticket (x3) which I'm likely to review.

Verge of greatness? At this point, we're far more likely to go down than we are to finish in the top 6.
And yet our best finish ever was under Mike Bailey and not long after that we got to a Cup Final. Greatness is not 40 points and 16th place.

He has explained his reasons and if he’s not enjoying what he pays good money to see at the Amex I can understand why he wants out…..he can always buy one off tickets to watch the Albion if he finds he’s missing coming to the Amex.
Going to football is a hobby and supposed to be enjoyable, if he’s enjoying football at non league and not the Amex I wouldn’t call him a fool.
OK, accept that you weren’t sneering, but I’d still challenge this idea that “we clearly should have won easily” against any fellow Premier League club.
When we get an FA Cup tie where we’re playing against League One or below opposition, then I’d agree with “should have won easily”, but you don’t get into this division at all if you don’t have teeth, however rarely they show.
We have a forward line that only delivers end product erratically, and the midfield are not chipping in with goals to make up the deficit. We need more strength in depth in our forward line, and better attacking coaching (and/or better players) in our midfield.
That requires investment, or an academy that churns out world class players at a rate of at least one a season. Successful as TB is, I doubt he can call upon the sovereign wealth of an entire nation if he fancies upgrading our striking options.
I would rather have a fan in charge then have my club be a way of sports-washing a dodgy nation state. Yes, I wish we won more games, but when we play well but don’t score or win, some credit has to go to the opposition for stopping us, rather than laying all the blame at the door of the manager and players.
If they’re in the Premier League, they’re one of the 20 best teams in England. We’re doing alright, winning less is the price of playing at the highest level, and we’re competing, genuinely competing, in company that have us financially outgunned.

Something about the Amex NS has never quite worked. A million miles away from the big Kops being created at new or refurbished grounds, with many of the raucous fans banned in the early Amex years by an army of heavy handed stewards. Whilst other clubs weren’t so anal, turning a bit of a blind eye, encouraging the 12th man.
I always said the north standers need to stop being so precious about it, (It will never be the Goldstone) and get under the roof of the west upper, but I think some still want to eye ball Zaha and give him a sign or two.

At the risk of being whooshed, no team in history has its noisiest singers at the back of a main stand where you can’t even be seen on telly.
Personally I think Southampton got this right. Two big groups of singers either side of the away end. 75% of their ground is a library but the end we’re always at is a proper football atmosphere

Cheers mate! My son will probably be playing Saturday football very soon, which is also a factor in giving up my ticket. He is 16 and has had a season ticket for 14 years. He definitely will not give his up until he breaks into Worthing or Shoreham 1st team

But my point is to keep a constant noise you need to be under a decent roof, the northstand is not. And by being central in let's say WSU, it can then spread like a Mexican wave.
I do like the saints method too.

The way things are shaping up i would not worry too much about getting to some away games as apart from some of the london games( but certainly not all ) and southampton the vast majority of games are going on sale to my albion plus members and 5 out of the last 6 all the way to purchase history which category you will certainly fall into !
Whatever you decide is right for you is the way to go , all the best whatever that is !

Good luck to him, I’ve got 2 sons that play football, after running them around on Sunday mornings for years it was quite a surprise when I had to pay an entry fee to watch one of them play.
It’s supposedly designed so that the noise is bigger on the pitch.
As a 50 something pub centre back, who regarded the John Smith’s advert as a training session, I’ll never find out if that’s true.

As a back seat club owner/architect without a penny to my name, my idea would’ve be asymmetrical. Thought that from day one.
A 40 row (rather than 28) NS, 20 row SS.
But know that would infuriate those with tidy minds.
That depth in rows at Fulham (us, when we visit), also Leicester, seems far more intimidating and imposing.
Not sure it the gradient/pitch is the same. Ours looks shallow.
Old and new - Bramall, Anfield, WHL are all impressive, Everton are also learning from the Emirates/Amex sterility, copying Liverpool and Spuds at Bramley Moore Dock with a steep Kop.
