Try not to open with an insult, it really does diminish anything else you try to say.

So what you and Neville's Breakfast are trying to say is that

Some folk will give a lower score because they have disagreed with Johnson on other subjects
But nobody will give a higher score because they have agreed with Johnson on other subjects

Maybe it just me that can see a possible issue with the logic of that ???

Not at all. Dyed in the wool Conservative voters will likely do so. I think I explained my 6/10 score and have elsewhere explained that I don’t like Boris, lots of his policies and especially his colleagues. I have rarely discussed the merits or otherwise of Brexit on here over the last few years as I grew tired of being told I was stupid. That is quite a contrast with obsessives such as yourself who see every issue through the prism of Brexit. Perhaps I need to raise my score a point as I have just read the Daily Telegraph article ?

As I see it its literally impossible for governments etc. to know what to do.

No, it's really not. The UK government had the advantage of seeing what was happing elsewhere to prepare for this, a prime example being Italy. They dithered, offered advice but not law in the middle of March, let Cheltenham go ahead (for instance), allowed the virus to take hold.

I reluctantly gave them a 1, as 0 was unavailable. Some of their lowlights:-

 • Corrupt handing out of PPE contracts
 • Cummings
 • Eat out to help out (did that really happen?)
 • The relaxing of rules for Christmas (again, really?)

I could go on and on.

I think I do.
I imagine he would have brought in lockdown earlier and more completely and "bugger the economic consequences as we can increase taxes to pay for it later."
I also think he would have been much more careful in what was promised.
One of the Governments biggest failures has been the constant over promising and under delivering.

Until he’s in power it’s all guesswork but he has a very very easy job in comparison to BJ. I am quite good at criticising what others have done or haven’t done after the event too.

I have been through a few Labour Governments and non have covered themselves in glory, why would he be different? Especially in times like this.

Not meaning to bang on about it but the biggest ***** during this pandemic have been a fair proportion on the population and no leader could have got a handle on it without enforcement and the civil war that would follow.

I am no Boris apologist and he has got quite a lot wrong but I believe Corbyn would have fecked up in a monumental way, Starmer will have to stand in line and wait for his chance.

I agree completely that 'dyed in the wool' Johnson lovers and 'dyed in the wool' Johnson haters will obviously adjust their scores accordingly. Apparently GT49er thinks that only the 'haters' would adjust their scoring and the 'lovers' would be completely objective :lolol:

I think that it is absolutely dreadful the way some people revert to insults, with no provocation whatsoever. If it's any reassurance it tends to be when they are totally incapable of putting together any sort of case.

Happy Xmas :bigwave:

You do seem to think of yourself as much cleverer than everyone else. I was basing my observation on your repetitively beginning threads on the subject and whining about it being confined to the Bear Pit. You now have your big chance on another thread on the Main Board. Don’t waste it.

Happy Christmas to you as well. It’s a bit of a strange one this year. Our plans have been drastically affected but I’m sure others have it a lot worse. Hopefully we can all hope for better in the future.

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
Can we do minus scores?

Sooner this tread goes to the bear pit the better.

You mean the two I started in 4.5 years ? And I'll try not to waste my 'big chance', thanks for the excellent advice

Every country got different prerequisites so its difficult to make much out of that. Obesity, genetics, public transport, national rules on ventilation, the material of fecking door handles and all kinds of shit could play a part, there must be at least thousands of factors playing a part. If Sweden and England did the exact same thing as Germany did, theres still no guarantee we would be having as low deaths per 100k as they do. As I see it its literally impossible for governments etc. to know what to do.

Apart from of course having an extremely high percentage of ICU beds to start with....

5/10.

I don't think the numbers would have changed all that much with a different government but a different government/leader could have handled the situation in a less laughable manor.

Apart from a plethora of many decisions made far too late, lying, manipulation, contracts to friends, lack of PPE, lack of testing and having one of the highest death tolls in the world, the first job of government is to protect the people above all else.
They sent untested people into care homes and killed them.
The cummings incident unforgivable.
Total lack of leadership, Hancock is wet prat.
Anybody that gave more than 3 is a total drip.
Saying the opposition would not have done better is the talk of idiots because we will never know, but they certainly could not have done any worse.
You can take this as anti Tory/Johnson if you like, but it isn't, they are in power, they failed, no one
else.
They handled the furlough money quite well but many missed out so I will give a very generous 3.
Its going to be interesting to see how they handle it in January and even more interesting to see how they handle the vaccine roll out.

3/10 for hmgov as a whole - collective deadly failure of common sense, especially in the Spring

7/10 for Matt Hancock. Fall guy for the collective deadly failings of hmgov, he's gone the hardest mile any Health Secretary has ever had to go and has taken the relentless flack throughout. Respect. Unlike for that smarmy piece of shit Jeremy Hunt, who doesn't even attempt to hide his absolute glee at dodging the covid bullet
